as it stands right now, is a go.

I need some feedback, though. How do you feel about prizes for the event? If you want something other than the accolades and backslaps of your fellow cobra handlers upon earning the top spot in this friendly competition, I would have to collect an entry fee and / or seek sponsors. As of right now I can get a Sonic Drive-in deal as a prize. I may also be able to get some help from another place as a sponsor.

Thoughts and ideas??? Let me know, please. I'd like to finish up any and all loose ends by this coming Sunday evening, so if you could please jump in the thread by the weekend, I would be most grateful. Thanks!

Also, keep watching this here thread, as it will likely be announced soon when I will be soliciting entry registration. I would be asking for pre registration simply because of the amount of work that is going into putting this together. If only 4 cars are interested in making the run, it is hardly worth the trouble to set it up. Ideally, it will be 6 or more and the more the merrier!!! (Of course eight teams would be an astronomical phenomenon!!)
So if pre-registration only shows 5 cars, I would rather hold off attempting the event and postpone to a future date when we could perhaps solicit a larger turnout.

If it helps, the following is offered to help you decide if you want to participate:

1. The entire search zone is in southwest St. Louis County and is contained roughly within the area bounded by Missouri State Route 109 on the West, US 40 /I-64 on the North, I-270 on the East, and I-44 on the South. Eight map pages will be included in your Scavenge Package.

2. The event is intended to attract attention to these amazing cars, hence two cars per search team running together. The cars will be showing up at multiple locations as different pairs, at different times and will surely cause a stir at some of these spots!! Heh, heh, heh!
If it works out, pairs will be randomly drawn, but skewed so as to produce a pair with one of the drivers being from within the search area!

3. The event has been allotted a GENEROUS 4 1/2 hour window, and I am expecting it to be all over in about 3 to 3 1/2 hours. Since the event is on a Saturday and will be starting promptly at noon, I am hereby passing on an invitation for the participants to join in a special cruise to a popular spot immediately after the Scavenger Hunt.

4. Only eight answers are sought in this event. They are either an item, or a bit of information. Items will easily fit in a COBRA.

Please bear with me on this, my Cobra Brethren. I know the weather will always be a factor, but the way this sets up, it is fairly independent of being run on any particular date. It is only a phone call to one person to switch dates. So whether it be postponed for lack of planned participation or weather, we can still do this.

Jump on in. I'm all ears, or is it eyes??

Hmmm, sounds fun as is without prizes, however, I would be willing to contribute to a registration fee if necessary. Matter of fact, if you got reg. fees, you could use that total amount for gas cards or food cards.

Need any help organizing?

Hey PV,
Thanks for the offer, but only need help organizing if you are sure you are not wanting to run. As it is this may not generate as much interest as I had hoped, so for now everyone who has even an inkling they may run it is not about to be shanghai 'd into working it!!
I pretty well have it all covered - just need to see if I can gen up a sponsorship of sorts.
If not we can always go with the photo feature and story at eleven on the forum covering the victor !!!

Alright, come on GCC'rs, Keith really needs to get a headcount. This is next Saturday, the 13th. Just a simple yes or no would be great.

Count us in!

Although I don't expect to win, a pat on the back would be sufficient reward if it somehow happened :D.

Sorry, Based on PV's post when he said next Saturday I was thinking this next Saturday. Haven't heard back about the part yet, but I'll be out of town on the 13th fishing for trout with my daughters. Hopefully I'll find the fish while you are finding the the treasures.:D good luck all. I can't wait to hear the report.

Depends on what we're searching for. Is it going to be friendly for non-St. Louis natives? Not going to speed shops or places we wouldn't know unless we lived in a certian area? No big deal, just wondering if it is worth my time, don't want to be in the dark all day!

Worth your time?! heck, just driving your car even if your lost is worth your time right? I believe he mentioned GPS's were welcome.

True, But not knowing things that eveyone else seems too, always puts me in a bad mood. Probably a bad choice of words, but you understand.

Hey, it's just fun. We won't make too much fun of ya. Plus, you will be paired up with someone that is somewhat familiar with the area. I'm not from South County, but I think with my friend Gertrude Phyllis Sycopath (GPS) I can get anywhere or find most things :D

The Team Scavenger Package to be given to entrants at the start of the event will have maps and a custom index included to help find specifically addressed destinations, as well.

Compass - OKAY! (But not needed)
GPS - OKAY!
FRS - OKAY!
MAP - OKAY!
CELL - OKAY!
Yellow Book - OKAY!

Outside Help - NO! NO!
Courier Service - NO! NO!

Fun Drive - YES!
Skill Building - YES!
TEAM Building - YES!

On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being finding your way to the nearest 7-11,
and bringing home some lunar rocks from the surface of the moon equal to a 10,
this event is firmly planted at the number 2 spot!

Indefinate postponement

Well,
sorry guys, it looks like Mark and Tom - you'll have to wait til another time.:(
I was only going to wait until this past Sunday to pull the plug, but then thought maybe some members only check in on the forum at work. Also, was going to open registration at the meeting tomorrow night.

However, this particular hunt is now "in the can" and it could be run anytime with about a week's notice to the sponsors (co-conspirators:rolleyes:).

This type of event really does work best with at least 3 or 4 teams.

Hope you 2 (plus Orlando and Tbull and PV and Rednour) will still run it if we try it again another time.
Thanks for your support!

Hold the phone there buddy.

I can get an e-mail out to members tonight - don't pull the plug just yet.

Dude, I was looking forward to this! Come on you silent members, speak up!

Thanks Mark and Tim. But it is really no problem to postpone. The way it is looking, the weather is not going to cooperate, either.

Let's just put this one on the shelf for now. Like I said, all of the leg work is done, the treasures are going to remain obtainable; the locations, landmarks, and scenarios will "carry forward", and only a couple of phone calls can bring it back to life with only a week or two notice.

Besides, I go to bed early and having not seen this until after work today, be advised that I already gave my boss notice today that I can work Saturday if needed.
