as it stands right now, is a go.
I need some feedback, though. How do you feel about prizes for the event? If you want something other than the accolades and backslaps of your fellow cobra handlers upon earning the top spot in this friendly competition, I would have to collect an entry fee and / or seek sponsors. As of right now I can get a Sonic Drive-in deal as a prize. I may also be able to get some help from another place as a sponsor.
Thoughts and ideas??? Let me know, please. I'd like to finish up any and all loose ends by this coming Sunday evening, so if you could please jump in the thread by the weekend, I would be most grateful. Thanks!
Also, keep watching this here thread, as it will likely be announced soon when I will be soliciting entry registration. I would be asking for pre registration simply because of the amount of work that is going into putting this together. If only 4 cars are interested in making the run, it is hardly worth the trouble to set it up. Ideally, it will be 6 or more and the more the merrier!!! (Of course eight teams would be an astronomical phenomenon!!)
So if pre-registration only shows 5 cars, I would rather hold off attempting the event and postpone to a future date when we could perhaps solicit a larger turnout.
If it helps, the following is offered to help you decide if you want to participate:
1. The entire search zone is in southwest St. Louis County and is contained roughly within the area bounded by Missouri State Route 109 on the West, US 40 /I-64 on the North, I-270 on the East, and I-44 on the South. Eight map pages will be included in your Scavenge Package.
2. The event is intended to attract attention to these amazing cars, hence two cars per search team running together. The cars will be showing up at multiple locations as different pairs, at different times and will surely cause a stir at some of these spots!! Heh, heh, heh!
If it works out, pairs will be randomly drawn, but skewed so as to produce a pair with one of the drivers being from within the search area!
3. The event has been allotted a GENEROUS 4 1/2 hour window, and I am expecting it to be all over in about 3 to 3 1/2 hours. Since the event is on a Saturday and will be starting promptly at noon, I am hereby passing on an invitation for the participants to join in a special cruise to a popular spot immediately after the Scavenger Hunt.
4. Only eight answers are sought in this event. They are either an item, or a bit of information. Items will easily fit in a COBRA.
Please bear with me on this, my Cobra Brethren. I know the weather will always be a factor, but the way this sets up, it is fairly independent of being run on any particular date. It is only a phone call to one person to switch dates. So whether it be postponed for lack of planned participation or weather, we can still do this.
Jump on in. I'm all ears, or is it eyes??
