I had the good fortune in 1984 to have a one on one conversation with Mario for about 45 mins while we were waiting for the rain to clear at the old STL International.
He is a friendly, easily approachable individual who is right at home talking racing with blue-collar competitors. Not the least bit aloof.
He had very little grey hair and looked much younger than his age of 44 then.
Certainly one of the best racers of our generation...
