It's about time to put my new build on her feet - but not drivable yet. Curious of everyones thoughts/experiences using wheel dollies. It would be nice to be able to move the car around, at least a little. Do they work or are they just a pain in the ass?

Paul

I've used them with success. It allowed me to spin the car around in a smaller area by myself. I wouldn't say they are bad, but i didn't have to do it alot.

Paul, I have a set of 4, you are more that welcome to give them a try and use them as long as you like.

Does a 3/4 assembled car (2,000lbs) move easily or is it a struggle?

Floor is relatively smooth, epoxy finish, no cracks, slight drainage slope

Paul...I have used the stamped steel wheel dolly's from HF and did not care for them. They work...but the wheels are too small in diameter and tend to catch on any debris or floor imperfection. The wheels do not have ball bearings...only bushings and are hard to get moving. With two people and a light car you can move a car OK but I can't recommend them for a single person.

I replaced them with the grey Pittsburgh hydraulic self loading dollies from HF which work better. One person can move a car with them. However with a wide tire those dolly's are too narrow. They will only work with a max. 9" wide tire...and that is pushing it

There is a newer Daytona yellow version that is supposed to accommodate an 11" wide tire but I would measure them before purchasing and compare to your tire width. They are fairly expensive for a set of four.

Mine are the Harbor Freight ones, they aren't the easiest to move, but for occasional use, they work.

Mine are the same as Rich's. They work, but the metal wheels on my concrete floor moved ok. Of course I have a little more weight to put behind the push.

I have both the stamped steel and the ones that "clamp" the tire and you Jack up. The ones you Jack up are by far the better and easier ones to use. I just have to give a light push and off it goes. One time, I had to chase it out of the garage it rolled so well . You can borrow if you'd like. I have a set of the stamped steel ones I would sell at a very reasonable price just to get them out of my garage.

I have 4 you can use.

I think they are from HF.

I could move the coupe around myself. With Lynn it was easy enough.

Won't be home till 9/29.

Hey Paul, just saw this post and I think we already talked anyway but I recently picked up the Daytona line from Harbor Freight and they work fine. You or anyone else in here are welcome to come out and we can demo them. Haven't tried them on the cobra but their fine on the Bug.
