As some of you know, I just started shopping for a trailer. Hopping I can make it down to Viper Trailers tomorrow. I think I know what I need but let me know if I'm missing anything.

8 1/2 x 16 V-nose
Floor and side wall 16" centers
Tandem 3,500 drop axle
Recessed in floor E-track would be nice.

Similar to this. https://www.vipertrailerworld.com/2020-arising-85-x-16-v-nose-hd-ramp-66-interior-new-car-hauler-trailer-festus-mo-63028-i2678396

Also for you all in the St. Charles county area. If you store at a storage lot, what one do you use?

dovetail?
electric jack?
brakes on both axles?
interior lights?
Mines stored at home so no help there

Has a dovetail.
Hand crank jack. I'm fine with that.
Will double check that both axles have brakes. The description reads like it does.
Dome light with a wall switch is there also.

Thanks Keith

IMO...the extended trailer tongue option is worth the extra $150 or so to keep your trailer out of your tow vehicle in tight turns?

When I bought my trailer I asked the dealer what options he recommends and that was one.

Hey Tony. Did you look at the Aluma trailers ? Crump auto sales in Perryville has them. Dave I think is the contact there. Past that aluminum is a lot lighter and I think it would hold up just as well.

Thanks Mike. I'll ask about that.

No I haven't. I'll take a look. Aluminum would be nice! But I think it will jack the price way up.

Don't knock the electric jack it really does come in handy. I use 370 storage for my Fifth Wheel. 33 dollars a month, one month free if you pay for the year.

Tony- if I remember from 3 years ago... VIPER TRAILER SALES...meets and exceeds all you would want...
When bought mine, took a buddy with me (in implement business) expert on trailers. His comment, these trailers are well put together ARSING TRAILERS. Only thing I changed, was had etrack put in floor up front, so can strap down, in the rear was ok...and then put up LED lights strings down middle ceiling... wall switch works them all. Finally in talking with Dennis he is CLOSE TIGHT FRIENDS with HARRIS AUTO in Wentzville (we kinda hit it off, as I know Harris well) - they were or are still big time go kart racers...I enjoyed the experience. Good Luck tomorrow!!

Tony, any reason you aren't looking at the serpent express trailers? Tim, Mark, Kieth, and I have them, light, easy to tow. The big heavy box trailers are going to kill you on gas when you tow.

Rich, I have gone back and forth between the 2. In the end I think I like the extra security etc. of the box. It will only be used a couple times a year. If it was used a lot more the gas millage would probably tip the scale to the serpent.

Hey Tony, yes, they are more expensive I think. There’s more than just that company making them. But it’s like with aircraft, weight kills performance. Your get better gas mileage and reduce ware and tear on your truck, won’t rust out either. Get one with that pointed front end and I’ve seen them with a little bath and shower up there.

I did some quick looking on the Web. Aluminum start at about double the cost. That's not going to happen. It kills me to spend the money already on something that will be used so little. Maybe only a couple times a year. And on top of that pay to store it somewhere. I wish I could just rent one when needed. But no one rents an enclosed trailer to fit a car.

Yo Tony....yep couple draw backs but life is easy peeze with a nice trailer...Storage is a given... I use Blue Ribbon Storage 636 978 2888 off Service Road in OFallon...in front of the Banquet Place (?) - Contact is Jessica (I think I pay $450 annual - pay in full and one month free) paved lot, 24/7 access...easy in/out.... works for me....never had a issue.... Just FYI

Would this be the place Ian? lol..... IMG_3909.jpg

Placed an order with Viper Trailers.

Arising
8 1/2 X 16 V-nose
2 3500# EZ lube drop axles with brakes on both.
HD ramp
Beavertail
Spare tire
Extra dome light
12" tongue extension
E-Track
Side vents

Should be done in about 4 weeks. Now time to find a storage lot.

Another coupler hundred bucks on tie downs and E track hooks and you'll be set!

Tony, congrats on your purchase. I really like my front tiedowns, I'll see if I can find them and post here. Super easy and very secure.
Also, once you find the sweet spot for location, screw in a couple wood stop blocks and the straps are even easier to secure.
