Spots, Dermatologist and Cars

Tim I just had one burned off last week. It is a nice scab now. He did my whole face last fall and it hurt really bad for a few hours then just a little sensitive for a few days. I also have more to go. Mostly on my face which is the worst. The one on my hand is no big deal. No BCC for me thus far and am praying I never do!

MIke, once they blister up, how long before they scab over? She mentioned to put vaseline on it, but I can't remember at what point she said to put it on. They aren't hurting or anything now, they just look bad. The Basal Cell didn't seem to be too big of a deal to the Dr.

#1. GET CHECKED!

#2. Take care of them EARLY.

#3. Use sunscreen  (this is the one my wife constantly nags me about, she's right though! (they usually are!)

The one bad one I had removed from my shoulder blade was a little over 1" the FIRST time. Once they determined it was Malignant Melanoma, they went back and cut out 2" and all the way down to the muscle! Big Ouch! It was sore for quite a while.
Better to have them treated early and burned off.

Tim, with the driving we do in our roadsters and extended sun exposure, this is a GREAT Message to pass along. Thanks!

I am guessing here: about 24 hrs to a nice blood blister, then 3-4 days it popped, 6 days later the exterior hardened to a scab and 9 days later now it is still there. It all depends how long/aggressively they freeze them. This is the second time on this spot.

So, had my Mohs Surgery today on my basal cell spot on my face. The visible bump was 1/4" long x 1/8" wide. Took them two tries to get it all, but they did. Before they sewed me up, I wanted to see what it looked like  I was a little taken aback to tell the truth. The spot, is now a 1" diameter by 1/4" deep crater  How in the hell were they going to be able to sew this up I thought. When she came in, I was, well, a little concerned. She explained she would pull some fat from my cheek to fill the hole a little, pull some loose skin away from my nose, under my eye and my cheek and make a nice 'L' shaped area to sew up. I'm thinking I'm going to have stitches, skin grafts and all kinds of stuff....I mean, how was she going to fill up this hole! Well, considering how much my face is swollen, it actually looks pretty good. Sorry, no pics, but it's the grossest thing on a human i've seen in person. So now, bandaged up for the next 48 hours, then care to keep it dry until the stitches come out next Wednesday. Have to sleep propped up tonight to prevent some swelling, so will probably not be a good night for sleep.

So, lesson learned.....don't want to do this again. :(

Tim, glad they got it all. I think the group would agree...no pics necessary! :) Get what rest you can and hope it heals quickly. Mike P.

Tim, Take it easy for a couple days. Glad to hear they got it all. Heal fast so we can get some cruising in soon. SPF 45 for you.

Rick

Feel better soon Tim. Taking care of these things early can mean the difference between a scar and far worse treatment. I'm glad you stay on top of it.

Tim, glad you got it taken care of. Rest and heal fast. Hope to go on a cruise with you soon.
