I want to throw out some dates and see if there is interest in giving me a hand and having a build party next weekend to see if we can get my beast started. What day works better? Saturday 2/28 or Sunday March 1st? What times?

We will provide food and drinks.

Here is my to do list, and I will continue to work through it this weekend and next week. I have or will have the parts ready for the build.

1. Complete Battery Tray and Battery Installation
2. Complete Chassis/Starter/Battery Wiring
3. Install Grounds/Battery for Engine and remote harness sections
4. Complete Engine Misc. Items
5. Coolant System (hoses cut and installed - charge system)
6. Route and Install Throttle Cable
7. Clutch Cable
8. Torque 3-Link and grease all rear fittings (including drive shaft u-joints)
10. Ballpark front end alignment
11. Install seats

Another group could work on body prep:
1. Install lights onto body
2. Trial fit body and trim aluminum if needed, install bulb seal
3. Install body

I need to free up space in the garage and this would help by getting the car running (or damn near close) and then getting the body installed.

Anyone who is avaliable, please let me know.

Thanks in advance!

I can be available. I hope by next weekend to be in a holding pattern waiting on my rear upper control arms.

Sunday Only for me

Scott,
I am out of town on Saturday. Sunday is open. Let us know

Paul

I was off the computer most of the weekend...very busy with the home to get it on the market. Sounds like Saturday is better for most.

I did finally get the damn clutch cable resolved! So cross that off the list. Pulled the coolant crossover tube, was able to remove the fill port (it was frozen) and also replaced the 'O' rings and installed the engine computer temperature sensor last night. Started on the coolant lines to the radiator last night before I called it an evening.

I'm not sure we will get it started, but I want to give it fair effort. I have a bag of parts with me today that I either need more of, or something done to...

Yep...DAMN THE CLUTCH CABLES AND FULL SPEED AHEAD!

How does 9:00 am or 10:00 am on Saturday sound?

I'll email directions to those who have not been to my place before. It's open to all who want to come and help out (Leo and Mark hint hint)...

If anyone has an extra cordless drill with strong batteries please bring it. Mine are on their last legs.

Also, does anyone have a serpentine belt tool? If not, I'll get one from Autozone.

Will be there with cordless. Now where do you live again? See you Saturday for the Vroom Vroom.

Thanks guys. I'll keep you posted this week on the progress and let you know if I need any specialty tools (rosemary beads would be good...) for Saturday.

Edit: Hey Dave...how about bringing your digital video camera for a possible digital recording of a first start?

I have a Sony hard drive vid cam I can bring. Complete with Dolby Surround Sound :D

oh you need to put a battery pump on that thing:D

I'll be there with my cordless drill in one hand and ear-plugs in the other!

curious, what are all the cordless drills for? is this an alternative to installing your starter?? :D

can't wait to see this monster you've created.

No...I have the starter and battery for the engine...just figured if a few guys bring cordless drills I can put you to work completing the drilling for my roll bars, prepping the body for the headlights, tail lights, etc. May have to drill out some rivets I placed for the radiator aluminum (may have gotten ahead of myself there...)

Thanks Tim on the Video. Would hate to get this far and not document it with video and sound!

Tim - how did you adjust the height on your Koni coil overs once they are loaded with weight? Did you get a tool with yours?
