Putnam - September 17 - 19

I might have you take a gas take of 50/50 methanol mix for the intercooler. I'll go through a check list and let you know this weekend. Could I drop the stuff off on Sunday or Monday or would that be too late. I'm just packing an overnight for Ash and myself. I have a feeling the trunk will be packed with other stuff. :D

Just let me know. May be out and about Saturday, but home all day Sunday. Did you make your hotel reservations?

Crap. Forgot that one. I'll call tonight. Thanks for the reminder. Too many things going on right now.

Steve, when is this event considered full? There are currently 84 cars registered. Wondering if you've ran with them before and if there were this many cars?

Steve/Dan - Jim Dooley is going, riding with me. Meeting him at the McDonalds in Westport at 8am. Want to just meet up there?

That works for me. Glad to here Jim is coming.

Dan - if you don't want to drive your car, you can put it in my trailer and drive my truck while I drive my car.

Steve
PS: Tim - don't forget we have VB tonight

Right Now I plan on driving. If it starts to rain, Ashley may ride with Tim. Can I get the TEch inspection done anywhere? I'm also trying to track down a mis-fire in my engine too. Of all times, this happens. Kind of like Tim's engine mount. I appreciate the offer. I'll check back on Thursday when we can more closely know the weather. Right now it's looking good.

Dan:

You could fill it out yourself if you wanted to, but take it from a guy with a cracked frame found by a good mechanic, the tech inspection is for your own safety. I'd make a point to have a mechanic go over it.

Oh I am. One place wanted to know what to put in the Affliliation:_________
I told him the name of the garage. I have it being done tomorrow. I also this I found the slight miss. Cylinder #2 had a bad plug wire. I went to pull it because I was checking the plugs and the wire just slid right off and the end piece was left on the plug. Hmm... I think I found a problem. Luckily I have the good wires from the last time. I'm replacing all the plugs tomorrow night after I get home and I have a replacement wire for that position. Inspection on Wednesday. Looks like good weather on Friday through Sunday with a chance of a shower on the way home. I'm going to keep going over the engine tomorrow after I get home.

BTW Dan, don't forget to bring cash as the track only accepts cash for lunch and souvenir items. Be ready to hit a local steak restaurant Friday night (maybe Saturday, see what ya'll want to do) and a great little ice cream place :)

Well I got done with the interview last night, got home and replaced all my plugs. Number 2 looked a little rich, but that was about all. Tried to bring it to work this morning and the car died about a mile from the house. I don't need this crap right now. I got it started and and back to the house but it's running rough. I'm taking off this afternoon to look into it. I'll keep you posted. I'll have a decision tonight.

Well I took off this afternoon and fixed my engine problem. My own fault. I had a loose fitting on the S/C which didn't let it build the boost it was supposed to. The computer pushed through the fuel though based on the air it was supposed to have. The result was a flooding condition. I double checked everything and took it out for a spin with no problems. Well almost none.

I took it to a place I was told about from a friend. Ends up I know the owner. David Jumper. Well to make a long story short, he found my right lower passenger ball joint almost ready to fall out of the spindle. This is out of the same part I had a problem getting correctly from a third party vendor. (See previous build threads) It looks like the ball joint at least has to be replaced and possibly the arm since the threads are toast for the ball joint. Everything was going fine until Dave found that, but am I glad he did. I'll see hat a dent I can put in the problem over the weekend.

Tim, please bring back plenty of video from those sunglass videos you take. I'll make sure I have everything fixed for the next time. I promise. Hell I have the helmet, the meatballs, found a place for my methanol purchase, installed new plugs and everything. Now I just have the get the suspension. Maybe I'll have the truck transmission inspected and have a reciever put on the back so I can tow the car next time. Things are just a little crazy right now, but hey I found a good shop in my area too!

Dan:

That sucks. Can't the mechanic get it fixed by tomorrow night?

Have you checked with the KYPCA about getting a rain-check?

Maybe someone else locally would be willing to buy your slot from you.

Steve

He got me in for the inspection, but he didn't have time to fix it today. I may have to buy a new part from Factory Five to fix it. I'll never buy a part from Forte's again. I talked to Jeremy and the KRPCA is going to refund my money with out a problem. I was all happy that I fixed the engine problem, but I can't get the part nor have time to fix it myself before Friday. I took off a half day today, just to make sure I got the car fixed. Between interviews and everything I've missed too much time. Maybe once I get the new job, things will open up. At least I have everything for the spring. Hmmm... now I have to get my tool kit and helmet back from Tim. I really appreciate all the help. Like I said, maybe by the spring I'll have the truck tranny serviced and I'll be able to just tow the car over to the track. Better for everyone.

I've promised Ashley to spend the weekend with her doing stuff now too. Hopefully I'll have it together before Kerry's cruise.

As I recall, the ball joint is nothing special. I think it's off a Dodge or something, I remember it being pretty readily available, or was it the upper....? Come on, we can get that fixed before Friday!

You could even have it FedEx-ed to the hotel and change it there - plenty of hands available.
