Muncie Drag Strip Event

Steve, good thing you didn't come last night :D You may hear about it from the volleyball crowd at some point.....possibly.....maybe..... :D

Tim:

Sounds like it was a good time. Sorry I missed it. I worked with the client until 10:00 pm.

Steve

Sorry Steve. I'm just now coming out of the fog. I was up for about 38 hours straight to make it there (and back). And let me personally say that 5 hour energy drinks WORK. You and Tim made a bunch of passes. Wow 15 - maybe more than the rest - that equals 4 bucks a pass. We have got to make this a once a year thing if for no other reason than to get it out of our system.

A great event and an outstanding opportunity for drivers new to drag racing getting the opportunity to sort out their driving technique in a low stress environment.

I was impressed with both Tim and Steve's efforts to get in a lot of track time. I don't recall any other cars that made as many passes as our own members. It was obvious that launch technique improved as both gained confidence with each pass. Even though the air was not particularly good for record times and the track worsened through the afternoon, consistency improved as borne out by Tim's bracket win. Good job by all!

Dave also made some impressive passes until his clutch gave up the ghost...

As Mark pointed out...the Gateway Cobra Club was well represented and made an impression on all participants.

This definitely needs to be an annual "must attend" club event for participants...AND spectators. On the way home Kathy said she had a blast...!

Kerry and Kathy

Kerry, I neglected to thank you for all the pointers and helpful information you gave me Sunday, THANKS! Tell Kathy thank you as well for the encouragement as I was nervous getting on the track.

Kerry, did you get a chance to look at my pics above? Do you notice anything? Should I get those clutch pacs swapped anyway?

Tim,

The short chirps you did after getting home shows roughly equal torque transfer to each wheel. However this is after the clutch packs had a chance to cool down. Plus it was only the one launch that exhibited single wheel traction. Your clutch pack would be fine as is for driving on the street and the fact that you exhibit equal power transfer to both wheels after coming home rules out the possibility of a broken spider gear. However it is likely that in the future you may have an issue again at the track after repeated hard runs.

If it were me and you weren't planning another drag strip outing soon...I would leave it. But I would buy the Kevlar/carbon fiber clutch pack to have on hand when the traction lock does finally go bad or if you have to pull the center section for any other reason. I don't think it's enough of an issue to pull it now for normal street driving.

But to be certain... I would pull the cover to inspect for any debris or damaged parts...and if everything looks good... continue to run it. If however, you find a lot of friction material or metal in the bottom of the differential case...then it's time to replace.

A few great shots in her gallery. Guess you have to call/e-mail her to order?

I have in car video too  Wow, couldn't even hear my car  That was my best run all day though.

Mark E. see below - see told you it could be done. Don't think it's big enough for the calendar though.
