Misfit Toys at Gateway Saturday June 5

Hi all, just wanted to get this (Passing Zones for Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced groups) out to the group to review. Recommend it be a touch point for discussion at our next club meeting (11th Tue) since it's our first time together as a group driving the Gateway infield.

Suggest using the Novice Passing Zones for the morning, then if folks agree and are comfortable, use Intermediate Passing Zone map (1 additional passing zone).

Ok, last call...Who IS going and Who is NOT going? If you are thinking you are NOT going, please try and find someone to take your spot and you will need to notify MFTCC.

Also, this will be a rain/shine event....unless it's a downpour.

Any last minute questions from anyone? Make sure you read about Brake fade. If you've bought new brake pads, have you bedded them in? Make sure to EMPTY your car of loose items as well as any removable center caps on your wheels. Cracked windshields typically aren't ok, but, if you show up, I'm hoping they won't turn you away. Top of fluids, check your air pressures (cold), and check your belts for any frays.

Anything else, let Steven or I know.

Got my oil changed and bled the brakes with new fluid. After road testing, I think my brakes are better than they were. Several hard stops and I didn't lock up the front right as usual, felt really grippy. I'll be driving my car over and plan to bring a chair, my helmet, wear jeans and a long sleeve shirt. Make sure to bring water if you wish, if you are bringing your trailer, it would be most appreciative if someone could fill up a cooler with ice and water maybe a few powerades? I'll gladly repay you.

New front grippy pads (bedded), brake fluid flushed with new. Front suspension checked and lubed. :D

Quick mention: when you pull into your pit after each session do not use (engage) your parking brake. Use wheel chocks or put it in gear (trans).

The Blair’s will be there! We are driving out Thursday afternoon. We have the trailer and will bring two coolers and fill them with water and GA. Both Anne and I are driving on Saturday. We will be staying at the doubletree in chesterfield.

Going and driving! Fresh oil, brake and clutch fluid changes. Nut and bolt check. Do we need to bring a lunch? Will probably also be driving over vs trailering. Have to be at a special dinner for my in-laws 65th wedding anniversary at 5pm and not trailing will allow me to leave faster.

Good point MIKE....anyone else considering DRIVING vs TRAILER ...just curious, I was planning to trailer?

All, to try and park together, if you want, we can try and park at the North end of the Garage area near the Hot Pit lane access, see pic below. Trailering is up to you, I can't due to my circumstances, otherwise, I would trailer. Things a trailer allows:
- Get your car home safely after a hard day of driving..the A/C and power steering will feel great in your daily driver
- Get your car home...period, in case something breaks. Your car will be pushed harder than ever, and the weakest point is usually found.
- Peace of mind not having to worry about getting your car home and driving from the track.

Steven - What time is the driver's meeting Saturday morning? All - the drivers meeting is MANDATORY. Miss it and, you will not drive on the track that day. Has everyone printed the Tech Sheet? Make sure to have that with you to present to them. We will cover anything their Driver's meeting doesn't.

Remember - First session will be a lead follow. This means in the tire tracks of the car in front of you, not to the left, or right....but in the tire tracks. It is typical that by the 4th or 5th car back that the line get's a little squirrelly, so, pay attention.

From Misfit this morning: Infield @ 0930hrs (no specific location) ; gates open for setup 0830hrs

Thanks. That's what I thought you had said, they told me something different.

Anyway, we can all meet at the truck stop across the highway at 8:15, then drive over together if you want once everyone is there.

As Mark said, empty everything that moves and isn't attached permanently to your car...INCLUDING FLOORMATS, caps/hats, sunscreen...etc... Don't forget the stuff in your door pockets if you have them.
