Knock-off Lead Hammers

To those running Knock-off spinners, there is a source for lead hammers that needs to be shared.

American Hammer in Rockford, IL runs a special (one of their guys is a cobra fan). Price is right and once you have one, if it gets beat up too bad, they will recast it for you. Units are 6lb with aluminum handle.

Price is $60 which includes shipping to you.

That's the same hammer I have Paul. Would've sworn I got it on Amazon at that price or less, but don't see it now.

FFR's fake Halibrands have a threaded hub that goes in the wheel and has also has a threaded knock-off.
I've always used a rubber mallet to tighten and loosen them, is this the wrong tool? (wouldn't be the first time)
I don't put near the torque on them that you guys require, but they need to stay on and need presuasion to remove.

I've always cringed when I see you pin-drive guys take a metal hammer to those spinners! I know, I know, lead is soft. Still cringe.

In regards to Amazon...I believe I got mine there and pliers and safety wire...thought he hammer was cheaper, but it’s been awhile. Your source looks like a good one, free shipping too....the hammer I got is identical to pic shown...

No Mark a rubber mallet is perfect for your needs. Us pin drive guys need to knock the crap outa those suckers.

This is what I use in addition to the lead hammer and I don't have to worry about messing up the hammer or my original spinners. I use the hammer with a rag on the spinner ear to kind of break it loose and the removal tool for the rest. Most times I just use the hammer to make the finish tighten.
