I know you get a lot of Chinese stuff here, but I wonder how some things would work. Like these for instance - http://search.harborfreight.com/cpisearch/web/search.do?keyword=laser+thermometer&Submit=Go

Would either of these work on getting tire temps?

Or what about this - http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=90374 - I just got a new 18v drill last Father's day that has two shot batteries. So, with this, at least I can afford to buy new one's every year which is essentially what you do with these. The replacement batteries for my current one is more expensive than this entire kit....which does tell me something

laser therm is great to have - yes for tire temp also used on exhuast headers if you have a dead or weak cylinder run hard shut off and hit headers quick - we used to use for diesel miss fire like that also thermostate readings - well worth money to have - if you buy jack stands remember you may not be on paved surface so get yhe ones with a plate on the bottom. some magazines have a 20% off coupon in them also.

Thanks Mike, good point on the jack stands, didn't think about that.

I bought a set of alum jack stands for around $30 a couple of years ago from Harbour...love them...lite and durable. Have seen them on Jegs/Summit for twice that amount.
I buy all my die grinder/Dremel stuff there...cheap .
You might look at picking up 2-3 of thier movers/furniture pads to use as fender covers. They work great.

I have purchased quite a bit from Harbor Freight. Most lasts some doesn't, but the price difference allows for replacement. I have been happy with nearly everything I have gotten there. Seems like I fill the cart everytime I go to the one in North Co.

Brandon, you know there's one at 70 & Cave Springs, right?

No, well, maybe. It's where the old Best Buy used to be behind McDonald's and Lion's Choice.

Those temp guns are really handy. Like mike said they can easily help diagnose a weak cylinder. For tires, you need to check temps at the cords under the rubber. That takes a tire temp probe. It seems silly to poke a needle into your tire but thats how they do it. I will have one with me at the track in April. I will be happy to loan it out if some of you are at an event I can't make it to.

Quality

Harbor Freight passes the quality control to the customer. they have a relatively high failure rate but are willing to make it right, if you take the item back. Better than 50% don't so HF wins, financially.

The Temp guns are electronics and have a relatively high infant mortality. If yours works past a couple weeks, you should be good to go. Most professionals shy away from them because they don't have time to fool with things that don't work two days after they bought them.

Regarding the drill, are you aware of the deal that Home Depot offers on Rigid Lithium Ion drills. Guaranteed for life: Bat pack goes bad, they send you a new one. Their package is $100 but with two batteries and a charger, you can't go wrong. When the pack wears out, they send you a new one. In my mind, that's cheaper than Harbor Freight

Sears has good laser temp set...I bought mine in a elec testing kit and it works great.
They do sell it seperately but not sure of the price..I receive a Sears club flyer and it usually has 15-20% off everything.

That $60 thermometer is going to be on sale for $26 at their side walk sale March 12-14.

Yep, saw that, it's on sale now for that with a coupon. Still working on Linda on that tool chest :D  Maybe I should beg :D

Come up with something about the trailer not pulling well unless there is some weight up front. The old case would work perfect:o. Oh, I found the other harbor Freight, go figure!. Good luck with the begging.

Sears has an electrical test set on sale that includes the infrared temp gage...it is item #82004 /multimeter/voltage clamp/ac (hot wire checker) & digital temp gage. $89.00 if you are a Craftsman Club member.
I have had this kit for several years and it is top of the line...never a problem. Handy for working on cars and around the house.
Multimeter does, ohms, voltage, amps, etc.

HF has their rapid pump, low profile jack on sale for $129. Take a 20% off coupon with you.

Anyone need a new 18v cordless drill? Corded Polisher? Anyone want to go half on this camera?
