Meet & Greet @ the McDonald's Rest. at the Alton end of the Clark Bridge across the Missaslop @ 11:00AM on Sun. 5/31/09. Plan is as follows: Head up River Road, cruise through historic Elsah if any have not done so, head to Pere Marquette Park & drive UP back roads to senic overlooks, take route 100 up to near Hardin, head further north to Eldred, turn west go to Kampsville via the Ferry across the Illinois River, stop in Kampsville for a break, head south through Hardin on our way to Brussels, (Mark & Orlando love to race each other @ speeds in excess of 100mph on the straight stretch south of Hardin :D), take the Brussels Ferry back across the River, head into Gafton have dinner @ the Rest. suggested by MikeW (Lillie's?), possible stop at the Inn at the top of the bluffs after dinner for more senic looks of the river, return to Alton then home.
 
I'll miss this one. Will be traveling back from Louisville 5/31. Have fun.
 
Sounds like fun to me! I've been on those ferries. If the river is way high, it could be dicey getting on and off!

I've never had a problem with the ferries in Illinois - Mike might though......:D

There's a bridge - that's what we take - Lisa doesn't like ferries.
 
For our members with new cars - this is a great cruise - not huge - really fun. Don't miss it - although we do this a few times a year.
 
Wife has agreed to this one...Dave what time do you think we will finish as I have a golf club board meeting at 7pm and I am probable 2+ hrs from Alton area.

There are a few shops in Grafton that your wife can visit after dinner or even better choice are antique/curio shops on Braodway in Alton after Dinner. "A Snake" from McCleansboro, Il. needs to leave Grafton no later than 5:00PM so all shopping should be done after dinner. Plan is to be back in Grafton for Dinner by no later than 4:00pm for A Snake's sake. :)

Hey buddy: My plan is to be back in Grafton for dinner no later than 4:00pm for your sake so we can have you departed from Grafton by no later than 5pm & on your way back to God's country. Would you & your lovely Wife like to come to my house on Sat., go to dinner with me & my wife, spend the night in our home before the cruise on Sun.? If you say yes I will make room for your beast in my garage. :cool: BTW I'm also extending the same invitation to your buddy with the 56 vette. :cool::) One condition, he has to drive his vette up for the cruise. :D

OK Show of hands here. How many wish to stop in Grafton for shopping when we get there before heading up to Pere Marquette Park & points beyond? Weigh in here with your opinions. Or we can take a straw poll @ McD's around 11am before heading out.
 
how is your DAS FUUT Dave:D hope u guys have a nice cruise and the water holds back off the roads Brussels ferry is cool my friends wedding was there in Brussels went for a cruise out in the sticks to a bar where they eat earth-worms to get their name on the wall, i may of done it but being in the wedding party and sh8t faced all day and the night before at P-marquette where we stayed i may of ate one of those sonsabitches:Dahhhh the smell and the taste of dirt:)Happy trails

No, won't be able to make it. Getting 3 women ready to leave and on the road that early would be impossible. I figure I won't be back until 5pm.
