A Sign of the Times

some take the easy way out! some have to! i lost wages years ago to a employer he still has his nice big home and started another business i was one that pursued the courts and out of 30+ employees only 3 were given there pennies on the dollar..the others stood around with their D**k in their hand and didn't do anything too bad for them he who hesitates is lost!
but you know someday i will see him again and all 4 tires of his caddy will be Mine:rolleyes:

You are right Leo. He is running the "race" to "win" in this life time, but ultimately he will fail to win the race that counts. :(

Unfortunately, it is what it is. I never considered BK an option, but I can understand the whys now better than ever. I can't imagine being in the situation of saying my house isn't worth my mortgage, I lost my job and now my payment goes up because I have an arm. In Leo's case I think things are different, but these days in most cases it is good people that need relief. For those that own businesses it is much more of an issue. As Leo said, employees don't care if business is slow, they don't care the circumstances, they care about getting their pay check that is it. They beat up tools and get mad when you as the owner don't run out to buy $1,000s worth of new tools just because they were mad, in an arugument with the wife and threw your tools. After all, we just make money hand over fist and eat steak and lobster 4 times a week.

For those that own businesses mine is still pretty good(still profitable), but we are making those tough choices . Don't buy another vehicle, patch the one you have back together, charge employees for the broken tools when they are stupid(most just leave, then you get to train someone new) tkae less of a pay check because you are last in line.

Now, Leo, your case is different, if that guy closed his business, bought another, kept a big house and nice cars and left you hanging...go find the tires:eek:

Be patient Leo. God will get your revenge for you. Don't take matters into your own hands. Let the hands that are just & mighty deal with him. His judgment will be a lot worse than any you can attempt to administer.

oh i guarantee i am too old for that sh*t, but venting sometimes relieves the soul.
and i am smart about it my old restaurant days at my buddy's Silicilian place taught me
to keep to myself on what is happened at hand.
kinda like Ben Franklin said in poor richards "3 men can keep a secret if 2 of them are dead":D
things will never happen as they appear only how you want them to!
and "some" business owners should learn that the backbone of their business is their employees. like i tell my boss i am in the business to make you money if you don't make money then i don't make money! and i am in the business to support my Family, and that you don't want to get in the middle of:eek:

So true. It has to be reciprocal. If the employer gets greedy, ala your ex-employer, the workers won't be interested in trying to help him prosper. He should obviously spread the wealth. (Sorry about that Mark) :D And visa versa if the employees get greedy, by not caring about putting in an honest days work, ala Carpe' Kid's example, the employer will suffer & not be willing or unable to share the wealth. I try to keep my employees happy. For the most part I think I have succeeded. They love me. :)

They must. They take photos in Santa hats:D. I just made an extreme example. In the construction trade you get a lot of guys that could care less about anything but themselves, you also get guys the will do anything for you and the company. I have bend over backwards helping employees and many of them have done the same for me. It just takes awhile to build that trust. I am a firm believer that your employees are the ones that make you the money and it is only fair to share it.

Original point was I have had a lot of conversations with others in the trade that may walk this road in the next year. It is good guys, never missed a payment for anything, now that business is slow they are really working hard to make ends meet and just can't. Then they are getting the whammy of now you have bad credit, so you can't get a loan and your home is worth less so no help there either.

i am in the trade and i know how it is not to work, and have to look for work and start all over at the bottom and build a trust with whom u work with and work for, been a Union carpenter seems like my whole life, mom taught me u get more bees with honey and i have been lucky to mostly run the jobs but have been told by most in the trade that i run a good job. my theory of a project and work itself is that the subs, are in the same boat i am in and
to make a job work productive u have to work as a team "esprit De corps" the subs are trying to make money for their boss so if u let them do their job productive and not slam them on the site then the next job their company bids could be less of a cost plus the thought of knowing u are working side by side with someone again makes the job easier and i don't have to hold hands or call till i am blue n the face but "the sqweaking wheel gets the grease":Dand good luck to all and i hope their company stays strong and survives these times been here before '81-82 and the early 90's just people need to think positive and our economy will not be so pesimistic. America needs to grab the balls between their legs and get back to Work!!

It's nice to hear that some are doing the right thing! Although given what he came from at Sprint-Nextel, I'm sure it makes it a bit easier.
