I agree, check to be sure it's grounded well, you may want to run a ground wire to the alternator frame as well.

Steven, with the HP & torq you have a 3:73 ratios not a good combo. If you ran something like Dan, 3:27 you wouldn't need to use 5th at all, and still be able to pull hard in 3rd out of the turns
