Dates for this are July 20th and 21st. Motorvault is a dealer in Indianapolis that is a high end performance car dealer and Backdraft dealer. They are really needing participants this year to help offset costs. Find out all the info at this LINK

1st time at Putnam Park (1:26min). Only did 3 sessions.
Need a better seat, been fighting to stay upright the whole day and steer :-(
Got to test fit another Backdraft with the 16" Kirkey low back seat (fits like a glove around the torso (y))

Is this a track you have on your sim? Try not braking until the 200 sign, and not starting your turn in until the 100 sign or later. I'd like to see what the sim thinks of the different line entering 1

Nicely done! Looks like you were having fun. Am I wrong, or were you in 3rd gear most of the track except for the main straight?
yep, 3 most of the time and 4th or 5th on the front straight. In T7 2nd gear was too high, 3rd gear worked out better.

What's you're rear gear? I'm running 3:27 rear gears with a TKO-600RR. Torque and HP shouldn't be a problem. My instructor told me at the last time I went that I should try 3rd after turn 2 then only shift to forth half way down the straight. I can do 125 in 4th so no need to shift to 5th for me.

Since y'all have enough torque, 3rd is fine from turn 2 to turn 10.

Steven, my suggestion on shift points, pick one that suits your car and speed:
- Brake heavy in to 1, shift in to 3rd before entering 1. Gives you more power to get through 2 and accelerate quicker to 3 and 4 (my method)
- Brake lighter entering 1, modulate gas through 1, then shift to 3rd before 2. You lose a little time with this one in my opinion, but it's a more comfortable shift.
In the end, your skills and your cars handling will dictate what you do and as you get more comfortable at this track, you'll learn other 'tricks' too. Wish I was good at heel/toe braking and gas... This would help with the entry to 1 and 7.
I'll go next year when I have this car ready for track days. 👍😁

Steven, with the HP & torq you have a 3:73 ratios not a good combo. If you ran something like Dan, 3:27 you wouldn't need to use 5th at all, and still be able to pull hard in 3rd out of the turns

That is a nice video and that looks like a fun track. I like all of the grass for a run off area. Our track here is in the desert and winds over some low hills and if you run off the track you are most likely going to have damage to the car. What is the length of your track? Ours has two lengths. The short one is just 1 3/4ths mile and the long one is 3 miles.

I was braking into T1 then shifting to 3rd before T2. Next time I'll try shifting to 3rd before T1 during heavy braking.

Happy to know your going next year Tim. Should have a good group size if Dan, Tony or more come next year, more the merrier (y) 😊

1.8 miles, no walls until the last corner onto the front straight

I'll try it after we get back from our trip (y)
