The surgery and implant of the pacemaker / defibrillator has gone very well.
The fruit trees and flowers are blooming. Hopefully the weather will be great.
We will be attending the meeting tomorrow in St. Chuck to discuss details
We would appreciate those planning to attend to vote as soon as possible....

Bringing this to the top with some additional details from last nights meeting.

Kerry said that they will be providing the main dish (Sorry Kerry, I couldn't hear you when you were telling what you were providing, someone was talking over you), and if the attendees could bring a side dish/dessert. Linda will most likely be making her now infamous Homemade ice cream and I may make a Peach Cobbler with that (Kerry will need a few Charcoal Briquets). Kerry mentioned they have a detached living quarters with most everything you need for an overnight stay EXCEPT a bed. So, if you plan to stay overnight, bring an air mattress and be sure to let Kerry know if you will be. Since we have the dog, not sure we will be able to take advantage of that, but, I'm sure Kerry/Kathy would be great hosts! Please bring your own drinks as well.

Timing - Ok, the Eclipse at 100% will be slightly before 2pm. The drive there is about 2 hours, if going straight there via 55/67. However, I thougth we would take some back roads, which would make the trip 3 hours. I may or may not be in my Cobra, so, the drive will be limited to the daily driver speed. Potential is to meet in Eureka at the QT at 109/44 at 8am and depart there NLT 8:30. If you feel the need to leave earlier than that, Kerry's address is below and you can leave and get there when you like.

Route - My first pass at a route, without getting too long, is I-44 West down to Sullivan, Take Hwy 185 (fun road) to Potosi and jump on Hwy 21 there. Hwy 21 through Caledonia all the way down to Ironton/Arcadia, then take Hwy 72 East in to Fredericktown. I'm open to suggestions, but, this seems to keep us on some main roads without being on too many well traveled roads in to the area HOPEfully avoiding SOME traffic. I'm concerned about the last leg in to Fredericktown though.

Soooo, please vote on the poll above with your intention to attend so food can be properly purchased and we can count on your attendance. If you plan to stay overnight, please let Kerry/Kathy know.

Meet Time: 8am
Meet Location: QT 290 E 4th St, Eureka, MO 63025
Departure Time: NLT 8:30am, earlier the better
Arrival in Fredericktown: Around 11:30 - Noon (Health break in Potosi)
Eclipse Time: The centerline of the eclipse enters Missouri at approximately 12:38pm CDT, with totality beginning in that location at about 1:54pm CDT. Missouri is the first state along the path of the 2024 eclipse that was also along the path of the 2017 eclipse. See this LINK for more info.
Address: 1028 Madison 278, Fredericktown, MO 63645

Let us know where a good place along your route would be for the SoCo / Fenton contingencies to meet up. We'll be there ready to roll, so as not to slow down the caravan.

Kerry also said bring chairs and beverages.

We will be providing Burgers and Smoked sausage with buns and all condiments. There will be cold Ice Water bottles and Ice for your drinks. Any sides. snacks or desert would be appreciated. Be sure to bring your eye protection. We have outdoor seating for 12-13 people but bringing folding chairs might be wise.
If you would like to stay overnight...we have a guest room for a couple and living quarters that include kitchen, stove, fridge and bathroom with shower. However the living quarters do not have beds. But folding cots or air mattresses with sleeping bags will work well. For those wanting to avoid Eclipse return traffic...staying the night may prove a wise option.

I'll be coming as a single as well. Nancy had agreed to sub for the school district that Monday before realizing what day 4/08 is!

Several schools are closing that day. 🤔
Believe it is mostly schools in the path of the eclipse that will be closed? The Francis Howell school district will be open. Nancy is covering for a speech path that took off on Friday and Monday. Which makes a nice extended eclipse weekend!!

Got my glasses - Amazon… frosty morning 8am start 40’s… ugh - cloudy and 25% rain chance… high mid 60’s , which lends me toward my Vette vs. Cobra for this ride south… and evening return…

Weather forecast can't get today right much less 12 days out. My car won't quite be ready yet, so, we are taking the daily driver. This will NOT be a typical "Cobra Cruise" to get there. The local news is putting the fear of God in to everyone with traffic....IDK, it's so spread out this time, just not sure.

Route Link HERE. I eliminated Hwy 185 since I will be in daily driver.

Kerry, based on drive time and adding an hour for stops and another hour for delays, that would put us at your place right around noon or before.

If ANYone does not want to take this route or wants to leave when the rooster crows or any other reason, please do. The route above is what I'm taking.

And for those looking or that missed post 22 above:

If weather is not perfect....we still have an A frame covered Gazebo, a two level deck with large umbrella and roll out canopy...
PLUS, a nice warm sun room above the deck and a comfortable great room.
With room to expand in the Man Cave / living quarters attached to the shop.
Plenty of paved parking...
