Snapless Tonneau Covers..

So how much are the covers from your contact? Not sure how much color match will charge, but if he already had the one to make a pattern off of, it would be lot's less. The reason I liked the color match idea was for future or current members that would want them, they would know where to go locally to get plus the material is "carbon fiber" look vinyl. Scott, thought you were going to grab that for me?

Sorry Tim, it was late, I was tired, the weather was coming in and everyone was leaving the other night.

I'll get the contact list from Dave's secretary (hint, hint) and send out a mass mailing to everyone. I'll forward the orignal letter and the attached file. Their brochure is a 1 page word document. They don't advertise and there's no website. With the pattern pre-made, it may be cheaper to use Tim's contact. I'd be willing to get the cloth template if you guys wanted to try that and then the wait and shipping would be as long. We may need two templates. One for Hurricanes and one for FFR. If we want to get a couple of extras made, it may also be somehing we can sell at RunNGun.

Thanks Dan,
Can't wait to see the brochure. I know that Kay needs the specifics for each car. High or low back seats, mirror placement, single or double roll bars, steering wheel size and placement. I've seen pictures and saw a couple in London that looked very nice. It would sure be nice to have on the car when parked.
Tom

Please be patient

May I watch?

Will work another 8hrs today & all weekend.

May I come by and watch?

I've never seen a lawyer work before. I maybe could take a video, sell it to network TV and use the proceeds to buy snapless covers with a GCC logo on it for all members

:p :D

Good Idea? ? ?

Dave,
After posting my snide comment, I thought the logo might be a good idea.

As I recall, you had a large logo done on the back of a shirt or jacket. Do you recall what your guy charged to do that? A cockpit cover with the GCC logo on it might be kind of cool, especially if your in a remote city.

Paul, that's too funny, whaddya think about that Oddball, now you have MikeyD and Paul to watch out for

I like the logo idea, Color Match can do that to, just need the release from Mark to put it on there.

Final Verdict...

Hey guys, What's the final verdict on the snapless tonneau covers? Do we want to just order the cloth pattern and make them here or do we all want to individually buy them since there isn't a price break? I'm going to see what they have in stock, if anything and try to get one here for mine. I figure I could always have the logo embroidered on it. BTW would that allow water ti come throught where there is stitching? I guess we could always spray the back side of the logo with some sealant. Let me know.

I would eventually like one...but I am at least 9 months from needing it.

Yes, the stitching from embroidery would by like thousands of little holes in the tonneau cover...but I imagine you could have them put some backing on it and then srpay the top and back with "camp dry" or similar. I had to do this to all of my ballistic nylon motorcycle gear (jacket and saddlebags) to keep them dry.

If I can get a pattern, Color Match here can make them in whatever color you want or combination of colors you want. I had mentioned this to the owner, and was told the following:
- They charge $58/hour
- If provided a pattern, this would obviously speed up the process and take less time.
- Once measurements are made and patterns are established, he said that the next one's would be cheaper as it wouldn't take as long.
- HOWEVER, if we get them as a club, he would provide discounts.

I am no way affiliated with Color Match, never met the guy until I took my boat seat there for repair. He did phenomonal work on that and it was done in 3 days. If you have ever seen the White/Red Cobra that Dave drive's at Fastlane, Color Match did his entire interior. I will say that you will probably NOT pay $170, but you will get what you pay for, it will fit as you are local and measurements can be taken off your car, and you get what color you want. I will be more than happy to follow up with him and find out where he could be price wise. Just let me know.

Get a quote...

Tim, please get a quote for us. I'd like to find a local supplier too. I'm willing to buy the template for the MKII series and we can use that as a start, but I'd like a ball park cost. If is was going to be significantly higher, then I'd have to reconsider just buying a completed one from Phillip. Thanks. I'll be taking my car to work with me sometimes and I want to cover the cockpit, but I wanted to start doing that soon. :D

All - Dan and I talked tonight, and since there are so many different types of cars on here, we thought it better to just buy it from someone who has made them before. I think I will still get a quote from Color Match, kind of a Not to Exceed quote, and see how it comes out.

This discussion has brought up some interesting ideas about club discounts and the like. We all have similar cars and needs, we should be able to get something out of Finish Line, Weis, Bier Bros, Wier or something. Although, in talking to everyone, maybe Ace Hardware, Lowes or Home Depot would be more fitting :D Off topic I know, I will ask around and see what some places think.
