You can now add you Tube Clips to your post!

Here is a simple How-To to get you started:

First, go to YouTube and find the video that you want to include in a post.

If you look in the Address bar of your browser...you will see the link for your video.
Highlight the URL and copy it.

You have now "grabbed" the video file name.

Next, go start the post where you want to share the video.
At the point in the post where you want the video panel to appear, set up a set of youtube tags.
To do this , click on the video/movie icon above the editor. A box will open and paste the URL you copied into the field, and click OK

NOTE - if the clips on Youtube has embed clip disabled (as Scott's clips of my drag race with Tim are) - this won't work.

Now Submit the post and ...bingo...imbedded video.

Here's what it looks like.

Have fun - let's see some clips this summer.

Thanks! But no, I work weekends and through wednesday, which really, really sucks since I miss all the goings-on and meetings. Call me crazy, but with any luck, I'll get laid off by the end of the year and will hopefully be employed someplace with weekends off and day shift. This night shift crap is taking it's toll on me and my family. :(

Updated the method to show the proper method with current software. Give it a try - no more URL's, post your video

Look at the first post in this thread for details and a clip of the 2008 Run-N-Gun. Updated the links for the others

Trying this.
OK, can anyone tell me what I did wrong that this video has to be expanded instead of staying expanded like the others in this thread? It is in post # 16.

Also another question. Why can't I Edit a post for more than a short time after I post it.? I am new to this software and so far there are several things that I can't seem to find or get the hang of. On our site which uses the old software any member can Edit a post of theirs for as long as the post is there. Also we can post with a quote which shows what was in the post we are answering.

Thanks,

Ron

answering your questions

1) the size of the image determines how the software reacts with the display. If it is too large, it then scales it down and puts it into the box. This is done to keep from posting pictures or videos that are too large for the display and make the user scroll sideways to see the whole thing. We have the forum set to not limit image size, but the coding deals with the overly large stuff to keep the display constant.

2) We purposely set the time to edit your posts.

a) as a registered user, your message can be edited for 10 minutes, then only a moderator or admin can change it. We've had issues with people changing things after the fact.

b) as a paid member of the club, this is changed to 120 minutes. Privileges of membership.

These are controls within the coding of the software and can be customized to the particular forum or user group or even an individual.

3) you are able to quote a previous message. You CAN NOT edit someone else's post. Again, only a moderator or admin can due to permission settings. We don't believe you should be able to edit other people's postings.

I know you're using vBulletin 4.2.25 which has been broken for some time. I also know the forum you're referring to and you, with admin permissions are able to do things on that forum that normal guests or members cannot. It's all in the permissions.

Thanks for the answers Paul. I had figured out most of them but wasn't sure why the video only shows about 1/2 of it and you click on it to expand it to full size and play it.
