I was up at Omer's today checking on my car and there was a gentlemen there that I had seen before working on a teardown of a 4 cylinder Toyota truck. We talked a bit about the stuck head bolt stud and then got to talking about NASCAR, Smokey Yunick, Richard Petty, Buddy Baker, and Bob Bondurant (yes, that one). He told me about Richard Petty drag racing - go down about half the page: (http://www.sometimesnothingisarealcoolhand.com/tag/1964/), about Smokey Yunicks reverse rotating engine (http://www.circletrack.com/ultimateracing/ctrp_0801_smokey_yunick/viewall.html), about how one time when Buddy Baker was driving for his Dad, running in 3rd place with very few laps to go, coming in and telling the pit crew his seat was loose (only to be told by his Dad to get the *bleep* back out there), not getting it fixed, and going back on the track over revving the engine to blow it up so he didn't have to put up with the loose seat anymore and how he had an old Pontiac that he took to Riverside one time that Bob Bondurant drove for him in a race there  Very cool to talk to and get some inside scoop on things like having one of the first 3 hemi powered Dodge's to run at Daytona (the other 2 being Petty's). Great stories that I hadn't heard before. :D :D

You met him when we were up there before, he was putting the purple engine back together - Bill Smith.
