That little clunk or chink when pulling your utility tractor with your lawn tractor and you just take off and the lynch pin is a little loose? Or pulling a bigger trailer with your truck or tractor and the slack is just taken up in the trailer hitch?:(:(

Well, Tuesday evening on the way home from work the Cobra was making such a noise during gear changes. This is the sort of noise that it is wise NOT to ignore! I will not drive her until I have found the source. It could be a loose wheel. Or a loose driveshaft. Or a sloppy CV joint. Or could be something more sinister like a loose flywheel (Did I put loctite on those bolts?):confused:

Anyway I should be getting my new engine very soon (Lumpy has it completed and dyno'ed) and it will take about a month to swap engines (because of the other things I plan on doing with the engine out.) So I might be done for the year.:(

A great year overall with no damage and no failures and no tow trucks!:D:D

Yeah, call Paul, paint some stripes on Cindy's Miata and come on!:D

New noise and no go

ouch borrowed mt slicks ran at 8 lbs put good gas in the tank put pills in for 300 shot of nitrous moved about 6 feet and bam tore planetaries out of a c-6 will have back together by this coming week end. already torn down. nice grinding grateing noise. have trans from ford diesel those should do it. wished i would have built it with them 1st.:( destroyed 1 sun gear, planetaries and planetary hub , and lots off cleanup. i guess could have been worse. now to wash ,clean and inspect what a pain in the _ _ _

Could be as simple as a U-jiont. They like to "ckunk" when you let out the clutch. Wind it up to about 4 grand and side step the clutch.....Whatever it is will quit makin noise!!!!:D

Just kiddin! I wouldn't do that on a good day.

noise fixed

karl when you run the snot out of something you better know how to fix it or have deep pockets. luckly back in the 70-80s I twisted wrenches for a living and rebuilt automatics at home to support my race cars yep broke them too. but never thought I would rip the planetaries out of a c-6 they are pretty hardy - looks like sungear failed and caused rest of damage - now tomorrow i get to clean up the garage. I will tell you one of the handiest tools to have is a bench mule and a roll around transmission table. has hole in the center and a container to catch fluid. made by shure manufacturing. or check with Tom Keiser his company may make such a table. the table was well worth what i paid for it and its nice to have a roll a round. this one is sturdy enough to hold a assembled short block on it. think last time i looked they are around the 350 range but that was ten years ago for 1 I have here is their address and info Shure Manufacturing Corporation • 1901 West Main • Washington, MO 63090 • tel. 800.227.4873 • fax 636.390.7171 • sales@shureusa.com also paul proe sells shure products and they are nice
