That has to be tough to tell if you are on the road or heading into the ditch.

It's even tougher on a motorcycle..!
A couple years ago we boarded the Eagle ferry at Grafton when the river was flooded. We figured if the ferry was open...no problem on the West side.
Wrong...when they dropped the ramp...there was no road to be seen. Everything was flooded with 6"-10" of water and we didn't know where the road went. Fortunately there was a jacked up GMC 4x4 on the ferry and we assumed he knew where the road was and let him leave first. We then followed his left rear tire until we got to higher ground.
My feet got soaked...Kathy's foot pegs were higher... but otherwise we stayed dry and no further surprises...but it could have been ugly.

I have ridden a dirt bike in water up to the gas tank. It stayed running if you held it wide open. Just had to change the oil after.
