1. I believe in the right to life and not "pro-choice," except for very narrow exceptions, because I believe that only God has the perogative/right to determine when a life ends. Does that make me a conservative?
2. I do not believe in the death penalty for the same reasons. Does that make me a liberal?
3. I am in favor of less taxes, less gov't spending & fiscal responsibility. Does that make me a conservative?
4. I am in favor of our gov't using our tax $ to help the poor in our nation. Does that make me a liberal?
5. I strongly believe in our citizens' right to bear arms, but do not own any guns. Does that make me a liberal or a conservative?
6. I am not pro or anti big business or pro or anti union. Does that make a liberal or a conservative?
7. Is my real problem, I am so wishy washy I am nothing/neither or am I just an independent thinker?
 
Unfortunately, you are not crooked, which means......you can't run for any office in the state of IL:rolleyes::D;).

I have always had the same thoughts. I am a conservative, full blooded republican, but I am also pro choice. There lies the problem with drawing definate lines. My personal opinion, many politicians vote based on party lines, not what they believe:mad:
 
Dave I think you are probably a part of the silent majority. On the conservative side.
You seem to think as I do. I agree with most of your positions.
The problem with our type is this: we have played by the rules, we are probably too comfortable at this stage of our lives after working our ass off to get really involved.
We don't want to make waves cause we may have to buy a surf board to ride the big waves we would make.
I am getting more involved in various situations where I feel I can make a difference.
Workforce investment board(training and retraining displaced workers)
County economic development board
Assisted living facilty board member
Golf club board member
Past president and president elect for Rotary
All of these are non paid positions and I am having the time of my life....I can make a difference. I play devils advocate on all of these boards in effort to try to make other members think about what we are doing with funding that for the most part comes from taxes.
 
Hey Kid how do you know I'm not crooked? :D I am from the state of ILL. ya know not to mention the fact that my brethren in my profession are wrongfully & maliciously not to mention continuously & undeservedly maligned without foundation or justification. :D :rolleyes: Hey Scotty I thought I would run for School Board. Great pay & no one ever gives you any ___. :D Hey Mike I love the Golf Club Board member thing. I knew I liked you. I'm a member at Stonebridge in Maryville. Let's play sometime. I plan on playing at Rend Lake in the 3rd week in May with some of my buddies. More details later.

Always up to play cow pasture pool....I am not real good at it but boy do I enjoy the comraddery.
I am going on my annual week to Myrtle Beach...we leave the Saturday before Mothers day and return the following Saturday...play 36 each day.
We may be looking for a fourth...interested..friend has a time share.....cheap week of golf.
I'll talk to you tomorrow nite about it.

Bottom line - you are a free man, a veteran, and are fortunate enough to live in a country where your right to the very debates you mention are inalienable - sir!

Hear/Hear. Thank you sir. A liberal Christian? That's an oxymoron isn't it? Sometimes when I mention my left leaning views re compassion for the poor in Sun. school class, I get some unusual looks & responses from some of the conservative Christians who attend my church.
 
Dave, we eat breakfast, play 18 , grab a sandwich/hotdog, play 18, eat a big steak dinner, go to bed, get up eat breakfast, ect.
 
Don't know for sure if you are crooked or not, but knowing the crowd the you are associated with....you have to be reasonably upstanding:p:eek:;)
 
Gee "reasonably upstanding" I'm still trying to figure out what that means. ????? Don't tell me that it is something akin to kinda heterosexual. :eek:
