• For all members (past, current, and new)

THANK YOU ALL FOR HELPING TO GET THIS CLUB OFF THE STARTING LINE !!!

To begin your membership with Gateway Cobra Club please submit your vital information to our club registrar/Treasurer: Paul Proefrock

    Please include your:

Name, address, phone numbers (work, home, cell) e-mail, etc. Also, tell us about your Cobra (make, model, year, colors, engine, options, stage of build, etc.), where you bought it, any other particulars. Also include other vehicles, birthdays, your occupation & company, and any other details about you and you significant others. BTW - this info will not be posted on-line (EVER). It's just for us - to make the club better. We will eventually create a database for internal club use only.

We will begin collecting dues soon to enable the activities that we have planned for the year - so stay tuned for that.

FINALLY - get involved. Attend the meetings, schedule some cruises, and have some fun. We want to make this club fun (for the whole family). We're small (for now) but we're going to make a big noise here in St. Louis. In the end - this club will only be as good as our members participation.

Thanks for joining us - see you in the fast lane!

Welcome to our newest member Tony Goebel. Tony has just ordered his Factory Five kit due sometime in July I think. He has a few days to make changes. We talked to him about a few last night. Any must have's he should included?

Tony,
Here's my MK4 suggestions, I know you were already planning some:
  • Front LCAs
  • Dual Rollbars (I agree the single is more original, but for safety and Track Instructors / Track passengers) (Make the PS removable(?)
  • Don't have FFR cut your body holes
  • Blank aluminum dash
  • BBK 4-into-4 headers
  • Aftermarket SS sidepipes (Gas-N Pipes) (I heard issues with FFR SS's)
  • Hydraulic clutch
  • IRS (this is a personal preference)
  • Big Brakes (on my want list)
  • Power Steering
  • Hood Hinges and struts
  • 17" wheels (again, I prefer the 15", but limited tires available and smaller brakes)
  • Speedhut gauges (you can order directly from speedhut and have them customized)
  • New wiring harness (don't use donor, too old & brittle)
  • New radiator
  • New fuel tank
  • FFR Leather steering wheel (again, wood more original, leather more comfortable)

Modifications I did & recommend:
  • Highly recommend the PS footbox expansion
  • Also bump out the DS footbox toward the engine a smidge
  • Trunk expansion
  • Breeze Rollbars (1 3/4", little shorter, little rake)
  • Russ Thompson throttle pedal
  • Russ Thompson turn signals
  • Under dash panel
  • T-5 Midshift & MGW short shifter
  • Braided SS Brake lines
  • CNC dual reservoirs
  • Canton overflow tank
  • Aluminum fan shroud
  • Weather-pack connectors for all lights attached to body
  • Glovebox
  • Lokar tranny mount E-brake
  • Raydot Chrome side mirrors
  • PS F-Panel (remade without FFR hole cut)
  • Breeze lower radiator support braket
  • License Plate mod
  • Front & Rear bumper bolts mods

Let me know if you have any questions or want to discuss any of these, always here to help!
This club and it's members are a GREAT RESOURCE!!!!!
I don't think I would have attempted this without their encouragement and support.

MPTech (Mark Patterson (blue w/white stripes mk4)

Might even want to investigate 18" wheels as the 17" tires sre getting harder and harder to come by.
Think Mark covered the rest!!:D

Thanks guys,

Mark that's a great list to have. I will look at that stuff.

I'm sure I will have lots of questions when kit arrives and things start to come together.

I really appreciate what you guys have going on with this club. I think is going to be a cool thing to be a part of.

If any of you need help, let me know. I can be a good grunt and extra hands.

Just trying to learn this forum stuff, so I apologize in advance.

Welcome to the group Tony, look forward to seeing your build progress.
Hope I didn't overwhelm you.

Here's my Build Plan, I recommend creating one, helps you document and remember as your build progresses. I stuck pretty true to my plan, but did make a couple changes along the way, just more cool, shiney, fast stuff to make you blow your budget!

Good idea Mark. I think I will print out your build plan and also the list above you gave me. I think we have similar ideas and style of car. If you don't mind I will use yours as a template and make my changes. I really appreciate the great information.

Do you know of anybody with an MK4 body buck they are wanting to get rid of? I think I will try and find the right forum/thread and put it out there.

Tony, Keith Wilson has a body buck, contact itzdapig via pm

Mark in the list above you recommend Speedhut gauges. Is there something wrong with the Vintage Factory Five/Smiths Style Gauges?

Is the BBK 4-into-4 headers the same as what factory five sells with the kit? Headers: 351W ceramic coated 4-port (replace OEM Mustang headers & J-pipes) Or are Factory Fives headers no good?

With the 50% that I'm getting I would like to stick with Factory Five if possible.
The gauges would be $400 and the headers $300.

>> I'm not familiar with the gauges FFR sells, do you know the manufacturer? Maybe someone here or on FFCars can provide a comparison based on their experience. I've heard a couple problems with the Speedhut, but their Customer Service is GREAT! and never heard an issue they wouldn't resolve. I highly recommend electronic gauges, regardless of what you buy. Also very happy with my GPS speedo.

>> Yes, I believe they are the same, but double check mine are for the 302. I know they were offering Hooker headers for the 351 for awhile and Hookers are more problematic, but double check for the 351.

If you will PM me, I'l send you the Build Plan as a Word doc and I also have a pretty complete list of all of my parts & product #s, and a doc of my Links to various recommended modifications.

Mark, I tried to send you a PM. Got this error.

MPTech has exceeded their stored private messages quota and cannot accept further messages until they clear some space.

Tony, there is little difference in body bucks between the Mrk III's and Mrk IV's. The earlier ones work just fine.

For that matter, Mark P (mptech) has my old one that I won't be needing anytime soon. As long as he's done with it, you can use it.

Glad you mentioned it Dan, I didn't want to offer your buck (not mine to offer).
But since you did, Tony, you are more than welcome to it.
I need to break it down, but it will fit in the back of a pickup or large SUV.
It's a nice one, that can be wheeled over the top of the chassis / go-kart for garage storage.

I'm available tonight thru Wednesday night, but heading to Cancun Thurs for 8 days.

Let me know. (do you have a Club Roster / Phone Numbers?) call my cell.

No problem Mark. As far as I'm concerned it could be put in the club equipment. I can always get hold of it if I need it.

Dan,

Thanks for loaning the body buck to me. I will get with Mark and get it. If for any reason you need it just let me know and I'll get it to you.

Thanks,
Tony
