This video popped up on my feed today (I think my phone was listening to our conversations!).
Tim, Keith, Regan & I were talking at the 370 show this morning and at lunch about Y-Blocks, Ford V8s (did you know they made a 221, 260, 289, and 302 from very similar blocks, but don't try to punch your 260 out to a 289!). Then it goes into some history about the Cobra Roadsters, the short-lived Daytona Coupes, then the infamous GT40's. We .were discussing the Coupes at lunch and their winning accomplishments, but why did the Coupes die?

Great video:

Ford Sealed This Engine Shut and Told Shelby: Don't Open It

The coupes died at the hand of Ford. They didn't want Shelby outdoing them and required that he focus all his attention on their GT40 program. A couple of races featured GT40s and coupes in the same race, but there wasn't enough manpower to run both teams.
