As almost everyone knows I've been very unhappy with how the car as been running. Was almost to the point of strapping a brick to the throttle and walking off.
Omer really didn't want to work on it, and after 2 yrs. and almost a grand, I wasn't sure I did either.
I started by swapping out the computer with a spare (thanks Dan), ran better but still not right. Reading a post on FFcars, someone else had similar issues, one recommendations was new O2 sensors. Thinking why not they are only about $40 each, I replaced both. They were Ford sensors so they may have been original to the donor, and the driver side had frayed wires at the top. Man that made a world of difference, car ran smooth, no stumbles, misses or hesitation. It did seem to have a bit less get up and go. Next was timing and setting TPS. Timing was retarded by 5*, TPS was close. Runs really good now.
So now, was all this problem due to the bad O2 sensors, or was the computer and chip from Omer also part of all the BS. When I pulled the old computer, I pulled off the chip, then took off the cover. The chip is long and was touching on one of the computer components, in fact it was bent over by the chip. I can't tell if that caused damage or not. I may reinstall the old computer at a later date and see how things run. I would like to reinstall the chip as it did have some improvements, but not if its going to damage the other computer.
I almost forgot how nice it is when the thing runs good.
