Talking to a couple other Project Managers / Directors at lunch today, an email went out yesterday to one of our divisions that (besides the mandatory 10 vacation days we have to take in the next 6 months, not a biggy, but vacation scheduling used to be optional), they are being required to cut 2 work days from each month (they calculated it to a 9.86% pay cut). (disturbing part is that since everyone is salaried, the work won't reduce, and they'll still expect 45+ hours of work output a week, regardless). And still be on call 24x7 and work weekends if your project demands it.
:(
I'm not impacted yet, and I've got my fingers crossed that I won't be.
But I did hear that one of my buddies that's been here 12 years, was notified last week that today is his last day. bummer

I'm an IT Project Manager for telecommunications software. the job market is not good, especially in St. Louis.

Thanks Scott, yep, no one is immune!

Hey, like your new avitar! I've been following your posts, I'm excited for you! Have you had an opportunity to actually take it for a spin yet? Iknow you're sorting out some bugs, but that's a MAJOR milestone, Congrats!

NOW ALL U GOT TO DO IS BE OPTIMISTIC...DAD always told me and i put this into perspective... when it comes to my job and work,,"there are 2 kinds of men: leaders and followers" and i don't much like following, so America put ur tool pouch on and go to work and start spendin' and sometimes ur boss wants that initiative to press on... it shows great qualities in a way of doing ur job.. kind of like steppin' on toes:D and my work boots are steel-toed.. so don't worry ... move forward and whats behind u don't matter:)
