Bringing this back to the top. See you at the track about 8:00am Sunday!

excited! can't wait to be out on track with the club. great to hear we're all together.

I think I found the source of the fireball that people saw. You can see the suspension through the fuel door (hose was dislodged)

Yesterday was a tough day and my 1st off track after years of driving trackdays. The fire was a wakeup call for me, I was hesitant to wear my full suit and only wore my fire jacket but it's a full suit going forward for me. I filed my trackday insurance claim last night to get it started and discussed bodyshop options with a few last night. After discovering the fuel scenario I know it could have been much worse but believe God was watching over me.

I just wanted to thank the club for the help and outpouring of support after the incident. Although I didn't respond to all the texts and kind words of support last night, it was very much appreciated. Although I'm back in familiar territory without a cobra, I'm still part of the best car club. 👍

We're so thankful you're ok. Yes it suck. No other way to put it, but you're ok and that is the most important part. If you need any help, we're here for you. We have a pretty knowledgeable group. and what we don't personally know, we know of good companies that do. Lean on us as much as you need.

With you're exception , I had a good first track day. That was due to you and everyone in the club giving out good advice to me and calming my nerves. I learned a lot about my car and quite frankly about myself as a driver. Some of that can be hard, but truth is better and I now start on a more firm knowledge of where I'm at. Thanks to all of you, this won't be my last track day.

Good thoughts Dan, and as long as you keep learning and improving you are having a successful track day. And as hard as it may seem, same with Steven. He learned probably the most and also the hardest lesson.

Linda and others mentioned track day insurance and I know Steven and Tony had it. I'm not going to say it's a bad thing, because it's not. As I explained to Linda....For me, NOT having track day insurance is what keeps me ON the track. I know, hard to understand, but, for ME, I know I'm driving a car that I also want to have on the street and that Linda wants/likes to drive. And, because of that and knowing the disappointment of wrecking the car, there are chances I do not take on the track. Could I have picked up another second on my lap times, possibly, but, as I told others, my 1:21 laps were as hard as I could drive....Willingly. If had drove any harder, yes, I could pick up that second, but, with risk. With Risk comes danger. With Danger comes bad results that I'm not willing to risk for 1 second. I've never purchased track insurance, and yes, someone could hit me, but, that is why I only register for Intermediate because of point by passing (Rich  ). Two spins occurred in front of me yesterday, both of which I had plenty of time to react to. Which leads me to another point:
If a spin happens in front of you, keep an eye on the track in FRONT of you, not on the car spinning. If the car spins directly in front of you, you should be able to react in plenty of time. If it happens in front of you and the spinning car goes left or right, get past the spin to allow any cars behind you to have the same opportunity and have options. Yesterday when Rich spun in front of Rick and I, I found myself looking at Rich instead of Rick. When I looked back at Rick, he had his brakes locked up and I had to take some evasive action (hard braking) which could have caused the car behind me to hit me...which, I know, proves the track day insurance plan, but, more times than not, additional spins/accidents happen on the track just like on the road, because of rubberneckin.

Anyway, long way to say that we ALL learned more yesterday....Had fun trying to keep up. I learned that if I start up front, it's much harder for all of the Cobra's to pass me  As I texted everyone last night, I used 6 gallons of gas for the drive to the track, on track and back home, so, I may be slow, but, I won't run out of gas!

Good point Tim, I watched Rich alittle to long and thought he might come back on track in front of me and hit the brakes to hard, should kept driving. As said in NASCAR drive thur the smoke.
Steven I'm so sorry for your accident but extremely happy that you walked way unhurt and will be able to drive again. As other have stated we are hear to help and encourage.
Dan glad you had a great day, you where improving each lap, there's always something to learn from a track day
To all I had a great time, really enjoy the camaraderie of this club. We have a great group here to learn and help from.
Again thanks to all.

Not going to lie Steven. I’ve looked at this more than once. Nothing is a guarantee you won’t get a leak/spill fuel in an accident. But this has to be way better than the stock mustang tin can. Its FIA rated. Never felt warm and fuzzy about the way the stock fuel filler and grommet go together. Even on the road I feel like a Pinto just waiting to explode if someone was to rear end you. And a bonus is it’s 22gal. It won’t work for your car but would on the Factory Fives.

Here is my best lap. The tires we’re getting greasy. You can see me lose traction coming out of 7&8 from the throttle.

just what I noticed:
T1 - stay closer to the right side, straighten out the curve to apex might result in faster exit tracking out (harder throttle on exit instead of waiting)
T1.JPG

T5 to T6 - stay on right side until yellow curbing starts then naturally move over to the left
T6 curbing.JPG

T6 - run over yellow stripes to initiate turn in (T6); your car position was still facing the left
T6.JPG

T6 - Hit the apex and track out to left (use all of the track) powering throttle on exit; don't steer over to the right side too quick (early) - it was started to oversteer but you caught it 👍 unlike me 😏

Congrats on <1:19min 👍
