I thought I had enough, but would have to have a seam in the thin foam pad behind the vinyl when I recover the dash. Any idea where this can purchased from locally? I know where to get it online, but would like to have it yet this weekend.

Most of the cars I have done do not use the foam behind the vinyl but instead use a cotton fabric to help smooth out imperfections then apply the vinyl. It won't be so puffy aroung the gauge faces that way.

Just a personal opinion.

I've recovered my dash a couple times.

You can get 3/32-1/8 thick foam from Home Depot or Lowes. They use it under Pergo flooring. Maybe a flooring store also.

Using this, it gave me more padding that what I preferred.

The next time I did it. I put two layers of vinyl on. First layer glued on as if it were foam and cut accordingly. Then glued normal vinyl layer on top of that. This has touch of a padded dash but not a thick so you don't get "bulges" around the gauges
