The latest thing in R/C is Rock Crawlers, it's more of a challenge than just driving around on dirt or on the street. Andy & I got a couple of 1/18 scale Team Losi Mini Crawlers and they are a blast down in Keifer Creek with all of the different rocks, chunks of concrete etc. to follow each other through. Lots of torque, 4 wheel drive with locked differentials, crazy articulation, oil filled shocks & soft tires with bead locks to grab the rocks. They run for about an hour and a half before having to switch to the on board backup battery.

Ah.... the Clod buster. I sold mine to build a 4 channel Sherman tank. Clod's were fine for flat play but there is no way they could go through what the little crawlers will today. I just picked up some Dean's pins at lunch time today, I'll bet that takes you back too eh.

I have a locked up piston on my RC-10 trophy truck. I love this stuff. Maybe we can start a new club inside our club!

Deans connectors...ahhhhhh, yes, a definite requisite for the hobby! "Gateway cobra club R/C club", lol...wish I had the time for both! I still have my 1st gen R/C 10 electric with the gold pan (haven't run it in 15 or so years!), modded blackfoot truck (I raced and sled pulled with it at R/C track and hobby eons ago), Kyosho F1 electric, Tamiya "FROG" that's currently a Lambo Countach, scratch-built funny car (olds Firenza - anyone remember those?), and a (cough-radioshack-cough) Golden Arrow that's modded with a Trinity motor and ball bearings - surprisingly tough little buggy! Recently got back into flying and made the switch to electric - so much more convenient! I also have a .65 cc tunnel hull outboard racer that also hasn't seen the water in over 15 years. Anyways, Tom, are they running brushless in cars now? I haven't kept up with the hobby in ages!

Yes, they are running brushless now. My crawler is brushless and very smooth. Losi's crawler speed controls allow you to move at almost no speed at all in forward or reverse and it'll hold on grades when you let off, very cool new stuff. I still have a gold pan RC-10 truck, graphite RC-10 team car, Yokomo YZ-10 full race 4 wheel drive 7 cell car and a flat pan Parma street rod that I just couldn't bear to get rid of. No planes but I do have an electric Bud Light hydro and a deep V boat with a single Traxxas outdrive. I plan to get the boats up and running again this year so the grand kids can play with them. I still have my power supply and battery cycling gear, I hope I can bring some old packs back to life.

Tom, whatever the cycler won't fix, a good reverse polarity hit on each dead cell with some high current usually works great (on Nicads).
