I just called the Embassy suites and was told that I got the last King room (didn't say what else was available).
If you are interested, book NOW, they are going fast.

I know Mark has already registered for the Texas Spring Meet. Gene and I both have rooms reserved. Is there anyone else that may have interest in going? Dates are 3/30 - 4/02. Mike

I think Linda and I are going now. Still need to register for the event, but have a room :D

Driving or flying Tim? We're leaving on Wednesday and probably spending the night in Dallas with my son, then finishing the drive in Thursday morning. Expect to be there noon-ish on Thursday. I'm registered, but not decided on the Banquet Dinner Saturday night yet. We may do dinner locally, not sure yet.

We're taking the car, so, driving. We're doing the same, leaving Wednesday and staying in Dallas as well. I know Google Maps has you going via Hwy 69 in Oklahoma, but, there are a few little towns you have to go through that way. We found taking I-44 to I-35 in Oklahoma City is faster (Interstate speeds)...it's more mileage, but, it's faster. We've driven the trip back in one day. It's a long one, but, we've done it twice.

As for the banquet, they typically have raffles, a picture slideshow, thanks to the volunteers that organized the event and they elect a new club 'president'. Dinner is typical banquet food, and we wouldn't be opposed to going somewhere for dinner as well. There are a couple of neat places nearby in Gruene/New Braunfels, Tx.

Ok, those of us going can have a side meeting Tuesday night, but wanted to post the following here as it is on Club Cobra. I see that Mark has responded as going. Ian, I thought you would want to go as the leader of this group is James Yale, your cars' builder.

From James:
Hey there Cobra Family! We are planning an event on Saturday for all those that would like to join. I need to get a head count and who would like to participate so that we can make reservations. I need to know who would like to go to the winery, who would like to do the wine tasting (not required), and who would like to go to Salt Lick BBQ. Please see below for details and send responses back to me directly at jamesyale1@hotmail.com by 3/15.

Saturday 4/1

Fall Creek Vineyards in Driftwood, TX

-Arrive 10:45 AM (estimated 45 minute drive from hotel)

-Wine Tasting Starts at 11:00 ($20.00 per person for the premium tasting, 6 samples)(Or you can just enjoy the winery atmosphere, landscape, by a glass or wine, etc)

-IMPORTANT: Need car count, if you want to go to winery, and/or if you want to do the tasting how many in your party.

Salt Lick BBQ in Driftwood, TX

-Arrive 12:30 PM (directly across the street from Fall Creek Winery)

-Open seating and BBQ by menu pricing

-IMPORTANT: Need car count, and how many in your party for BBQ.
Afterwards, maybe a twisty road cruise out to Luckenbach for some cold beverages and music. Let me know if you can make it.

James Yale (aka JUSBIT)

Mark and his son Dan are following this group, I think Linda and I will go, but not sure really yet. Mike? Gene? Ian? Let me know and I or Mark can add you to the roster as they need a headcount by 3/17 for their reservations.

3/29 - Linda and I will leave the house around 7:30am and pull off at Cuba as previously mentioned around 9am or so. From Cuba to Dallas, it's about 9 1/2 hours of driving which puts us in to the hotel around 7:30pm Wednesday evening.
3/30 - Linda and I will be leaving the hotel around 8 - 8:30am and heading to the Silo's in Waco, Tx. The Fixer Upper TV show place. I think Mark and Ann are going with us...so, Ian, if you and Barb want to go, just letting you know we're going there before going in to San Marcos. It's 2 1/2 hours from Waco to San Marcos, so, I hoped to arrive there around 3pm, get parked and checked in. Be prepared for a very full parking lot and the possibility that we won't be able to park where everyone else has their trailers parked due to the number of people that arrive Wednesday. We'll see...there are people there directing you where to park. If you want, I can plan a short drive Thursday evening that put's us back before the parking lot movie, let me know.
3/31 - We'll hang with the group that we've hung out with before led by Court Smith. He usually leads a good pace and takes us to some interesting places. Supper on the parking lot of the hotel Friday evening. Lunch will be on the road Friday somewhere.
4/1 - Backdraft group cruise. Details above. We, the GCC group, will go to Supper in Gruene, Tx while the TX group has their banquet. Lunch details above with the Backdraft group.

Mark, for Ann, I know the Tx Cobra Club Girls get together and take the hotel shuttle to a nearby outlet mall on Friday or Saturday for a day of shopping while their guys drive. Just fyi. If there are particular places you want to see or go to, let me know, we'll figure something out.

4/2 - Linda and I typically drive straight through back, and will probably leave around 7:30 - 8am Sunday morning. Not to be rude or anything, but it always seems to take longer when caravanning together. We just need to make sure we make our stops short. Any other questions, let me know at the meeting or here :-)

All sounds good to me! Only exception is Saturday I'd prefer to be driving instead of wine tasting but will go with whatever the group does. We can talk more on this next Tuesday. My rental will have room for 3 more passengers for dinner/supper. Unfortunately, it will not be a convertible or manual shift but will still be worthy of driving on the cruises. :)

I hope it has a V8!

Using Turo again. Should be able to keep up! :D

Tim: all of the above sounds perfect, and YES we shall participate in all activities ( the ride outs - trip over to Waco - and the Saturday Winery/BBQ trip with James Yale...not sure what is required etc, but YES I can and would "head that ride up" if requested, the BACKDRAFT GROUP CRUISE!

As mentioned we plan to see you in Cuba....and boogie from there.......9am on Wednesday the 29th.....also as noted I will be staying at the MARRIOTT COURTYARD (Embassy was booked) which is about 1/2 mile down the road, and I did make arrangements direct with hotel to park my trailer in a safe and visible spot on their lot. I have been assured this will be OK......

SECOND POST: I would be remiss if Barbara and I did not pass along a HUGE thank you to TIM (our President) for his expertise and instructions on "loading/unloading" to an enclosed trailer. This afternoon TIM stopped by my house and covered the in's and out's of correct and safely car hauling, tie downs procedure, loading process and general tips and suggestions. Good stuff, and was excited to learn these tips....most important to do this in real time, hands on......I am pleased to announce...NO SCRATCHES, DENTS, YELLING, SCREAMING....it was perfect and absolutely pleasant!

So THANK YOU TIM, VERY MUCH FOR TAKING THE TIME TO HELP the trailer "rookie"....pretty much a PRO now! Thanks Man.....
