swap meet in cape G.

tomorrow if no-one knows about it. i am going down with my neighbor we will be on a search and destroy mission rod parts and engine parts:)
 
Man oh Man I do like swap meets, but I spent all day today on a shopping mission w/the wifypoo. :eek::rolleyes: It seems like everybody & his brother was out shopping today. Traffic jams everywhere. Tax refunds, Vday or just get out blues. I'm not sure what caused it. Any way I'd like to take a rain check on the swap meet thing if it's available. Have you guys been to the Cape for a swap meet before? If so how does it rate? Which swap meet is your favorite? Last time I went to a swap meet was the OkaValley April fools swap meet in Waterloo, IL this last spring. It was a major disappointment for me, cause I was used to the old days before ebay. There was nothing but junk at that swap meet. Seems like all the good stuff for collectors/restorers is on ebay now at ridiculous prices. :(
 
my neighbor and i go maybe twice a year to one. one in Waterloo never knew about that one,, thats where my cousins are from. but big Rich passed away last year him and his wife ran the re-max reality there in town.. i know the town well. he had one beautiful home..you could see festus from the back patio and that was along way off
his brother still lives near the old homestead outside of town.its a place of great memories at the farm..:)
 
Riverport and Osage Beach...

...are my two favorite swap meets to hit. They are both HUUUUUUGE and your legs will be tired before you even get to see all the junk. Actually, I come across a lot of neat stuff at either one of those. Sometimes I go in with a few gearhead friends of mine and get a spot to sell our junk!

the one in Waterloo will be april 5th which i will be on the road to p/u a ffr roadster
but the riverport one has moved to gateway thats where it was last year
the cape one was busy some nice stuff but also shi**y too
we missed 2 straight front axles by 10 minutes and we got there at 6:30 am
i also passed up buying something and went back and it was sold
too much bowtie stuff for me:eek:and not enough Ford
 
Most important Q: Did ya have a good time? :) I have missed out on some good stuff over the years too. At a swap meet in Peotone, IL. when I was restoring my 57 Nomad, 20 yrs ago, there was a COMPLETE 57 power pack engine for sale for $200 on the infield. I passed it up & when I went back to get it, it was sold. :( At a swap meet in Altamont, IL. approx 15 yrs ago I was looking at a floor full of carbs in a space when I spotted 2 55-57 chevy 4 bl carbs. Another guy was standing there talking to the seller. I asked the seller how much for these? Seller says $5 bucks a piece. The other guy immediately says very meanly "Hey I was here 1st." Lost out. :(
