Friday evening I shot the largest buck of my life at 4:40 pm. The buck was 200lbs. on the dot field dressed. 12 pt. with a couple of small stickers, green scored the rack at 165 and change. One side has dual points, quite a lot of character in the rack. 30" neck, and his head is bruised up pretty good, which tells me there is still a comparable one running around out there. 80 yards quarting towards me, taken with a Muzzleloader. Hopefully I'll make the record book this year.

By far this is the largest deer I have ever seen at the area I hunt at my family farm. This is my 21st year deer hunting, I was beginning to think I would never get a monster buck.

I've hunted the same 15 acre patch of woods on the farm I grew up on for 21 years. To make this buck even sweeter, my grandpa who is suffering from sever Alstimers (sp), has been telling me for (2) years to put a stand in this location, that he sees deer here when he is farming. I have had stands close, within 20 yards, my brother and I moved it because he kept mentioning it, and my brother shot a nice doe from it opening weekend of bow season. This is the stand, in his location that I shot this deer from. It is a story I will always remember, he was very excited to hear I shot the bigest buck so far on the farm from where he told me to put the stand. He was with me when I shot my first deer at age 12, and I was with him when he shot his first deer the following year at age 65+.

Here are a couple of more pics. My 4 year old went out with me Sat. evening, and helped me grunt and rattle in a basket rack 6 pt, that we let walk. He had a great time, even if he did sleep about half the time.

This weekend turned out better than I could have hoped. Here are a couple of more pics:

It's always nice to have a taxidermy bill hanging over my head!

Good grief! That's one of the biggest deer I've ever seen! Congrats Craig, and nice to have the memories you created too. Awesome!

Congratulations Craigr. What a wonderful heartwarming story. Great memories like that will never be forgotten. My favorite pic is of you & your little buddy. Life doesn't get any better than that. My little buddy is almost 21 & we grow closer together all the time as the years go buy. I am soooooooooo proud of my son. Jordan was asked by our pastor to say the opening prayer for service this morning in front of the entire congregation & I believe everyone was impressed including God. :) Sorry bout the hijack Craigr. Love & peace to your family during this very special time of year.

Monster !!!

Congrats Craig!! What a monster. Do you have a place for him on the wall in your dead animal room?!?!! I only saw a few deer this weekend. I was looking for a big 12 pt. that I saw twice during bow season but he was no where to be seen. Looks like your buck was in full rut. Did you have him scored green yet? What a buck!! By the way...have you quit shaking yet????:D

Mike

Craig,

OUTSTANDING Buck....!!

Really a nice one.

Looks like he has been eating very well. Lots of soy beans and corn I suspect.:D

That is one experience you will never forget.

If you get a chance, send me a PM with info on the Taxidermist in St. Mary's...
