Steel Banding/Strapping

I am in need of some steel strapping or banding - the stuff used to band heavy items together or on a pallet. I am looking for scrap pieces, stuff as short as 6" would work. I use it to mount pieces in a mill, I bend it and use it to hold parallel bars apart when clamping pieces in a mill vise.

I tried Menards and Home Depot, thinking they surely would have some in their trash, but all I can find is the plastic and fiberglass type. Seems that is more commonly used now

Anyone have some scrap lying in their trash from a recent shipment?

Look at home Depot where they have the metal stock. I found some bendable stock there I used for straps at the deer lease

Paul, maybe Lowe's or Menards will let you grab some out of the dumpster?

try the lumber yards. almost all the lumber is banded with that or the plastic. Not as prevelant as it used to be though!

Finally was able to find some at Menards. Almost everything comes with plastic or fiberglass. Steel is very rare anymore.
