Stand Tall

ya know thats why there has never been an atheist in a fox-hole, the dread of knowing the zing of a projectile flying over their head has brought them to the truthfullnees of there is a GOD.......................and he is protecting my nephews right now.........;)

its the real thing coca-cola

Two radical Arab terrorists boarded a flight out of London . One took a window seat and the other sat next to him in the middle seat. Just before takeoff, a U.S. Marine sat down in the aisle seat. After takeoff, the Marine kicked his shoes off, wiggled his toes and was settling in when the Arab in the window seat said, "I need to get up and get a coke." "Don't get up," said the Marine, "I'm in the aisle seat, 'I'll get it for you."

As soon as he left, one of the Arabs picked up the Marines shoe and spat in it. When the Marine returned with the coke, the other Arab said, "That looks good, I'd really like one, too." Again, the Marine obligingly went to fetch it. While he was gone the other Arab picked up the Marines other shoe and spat in it. When the Marine returned, they all sat back and enjoyed the flight.

As the plane was landing, the Marine slipped his feet into his shoes and knew immediately what had happened. He leaned over and asked his Arab neighbors, "Why does it have to be this way? How long must this go on? This fighting between our nations? This hatred? This animosity? This spitting in shoes and pissing in cokes?"

THE FEW. THE PROUD. THE MARINES

Welcome Back to the States Micheal!!!:) " loosen your leggens and stand at ease"

words of wisdom

'In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language.. and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty t! o the American people..'
Theodore Roosevelt 1907
;)

I'll try to make this a short story.
When I returned from service I went back to SIU to finish my degree to become an auto tech teacher.
In my senior year my advisor discovered I had missed taking a socialiolgy 101 level course..society and how to live in this world. Keep in mind I was married, 25 years old and just returned from a war.
This was in 1970. Some of you may be too young to remember but that was the year of Kent state incident and protesters were on all campus'. SIU was no exception, they burnt OLD MAIN that summer. The university closed. I had spent many years preparing for my graduation(I was proud because I was the first in my family to do so). Classes had not gotten to mid term so no grades were issued, just a pass/fail scenerio. I had already been accept into grad school.
The instructor a young rock throwing hippey type grad assistant gave me a failing grade in this course. I had written a paper on drivers ed(my minor area of study) and included the fact that more people are killed on our highways than have been killed in Viet Nam. Wrong thing to present to this radical.
I was unable to find this woman as she had taken off for the summer to go protest somewhere else.
I did get into grad school but was on "probation" because I need the grade from that course to escape the probation issue.
What really pissed me off was I had already signed a contract to teach in the fall but was contingent upon greaduating!!! I had also paid for my cap and gown!!!!
I found this woman in late summer and explained my delima. She said she thought I was just one of baby killing vets that came back to college on the govt money so we didn't have to get a job.
She changed the grade to a pass and I moved on.
Wish I had learned the whining technique earlier in my college career...maybe my gp would have been higher.

American's good and bad

Snake i remember those days our family Knew the honor of a marine and soldier ,times were disgraceful mostly because of some photo being published, i was in a catholic grade school at that time, i used to have a band on my wrist of a pow/mia we all had them we prayed for their safe return everyday and that was everyday wish i had not of lost it swimming, but i still have the button that says POW's never have a nice day:( brother had a high # senoir year and joined the FBI in 1971 to fight communism on the homefront, a lot of kids from my neighborhood on the so. side being of working class never came home...the difference between a radical college student was the influence of their parents and the media.
most of them never had a father or a grandfather who faught in major battles that protected our country.... now everyday i see at the Robert A Young building kids enlisting
mostly because they can't find a job off the farm or in the inner-cities
i feel for them when they come back home and cannot find work with just infintry training.
times are going to be tough ahead lots of boys and girls getting close to the end of their
gig...some will probably better off making it as a career......PS i was an old hippy that loved the military:rolleyes:and could not stand a politician trying to run a war.
