I spent a day thinking about this before I responded. Though I agree with a lot of what you have said there is more to this subject. I have vented on this forum before that my son's school has gotten negative marks because the immigrant students could not speak English and due to no child left behind the class spends extra time helping two kids and slowing the rest of the class. The rest of the story though is something many of us hate to hear. My businesses depend on laborers. I pay a decent wage for the work that is being done(it is a living wage). I have employed people from every walk of earth, all races and creeds, the numerous immigrant workers I have employed in the past(all properly documented) were the workers that appreciate the work. My "American" workers tell me the work is too hard, it can't possibly be done in the timeframe needed, they want more $$ if they learn another facet of the job, etc...
Why should someone with little education, poor work ethic and a poor atitude be entitled to 50k per year? The immigrant workers that I have employed pay taxes, own homes, own vehicles, contribute to the community and they outwork every other worker. My experience has been they take tremendous pride in their job and always stand behind their company. They are also immigrants that see the "American Dream" and want to become a part of the dream. I can't say that for too many people that have been in this country their whole lives and are competing for the same work.
I have spoken to INS in the past, I have helped workers come into the country all because too many people believe they are entitled to something without having to work for it!!!
