OK....
I am considering stepping out of the dark ages with our pay as you go Trac Phone and considering a more current communication device.
After looking at the unlimited number of options...I am at a loss as to which devices and what features would be most useful to us.
In accessing our needs the following would apply:
- NO Apple products...I am turned off by their proprietary corporate mind set and past bad experiences with their marketing practices re: Itunes.
- At our farm we have ZERO cell phone coverage...ZERO
- However we do have Wi-Fi at our primary buildings at the farm.
- I am leaning against a small smart phone due to the small screen (hard to read) and small keypad requirements.
- Camera features are important but high quality photos are not a priority and I don't need a "selfie" lens. Just one for conventional photos.
- Zero priority for games but graphics capability for Aps such as GPS would be required
- Primary use for internet access and occasional / emergency phone use.
- Android operating system IS a priority to allow running Aps that are only offered for Android devices.
- A USB interface for use with thumb drives would be a high priority.
- A larger "keyboard"...virtual or physical would be a plus as I am not proficient typing on a small screen with large fingers. A stylus "might " offer an alternate solution...
- Light weight or compact size is not terribly important but I would consider a typical compact laptop as being too unwieldy.
I am leaning toward one of the Android tablets with at least 16gb...possibly 32gb memory.
What are my options and what are your personal recommendations?
What added features do you consider to be important?
Thanks...!
Kerry
