For years, the public has complained to the phone companies about blocking robo calls. Obviously, the phone company wouldn't do anything since cutting them off would affect their income string. Kind of like the fox guarding the henhouse.

But along comes VOIP services and they are quick to allow it:mad: An article from the Attorney General's office put me off on a search and I found this service

If you are using a VOIP Service, (sorry, doesn't work on Wireless yet), follow the link and check it out. They say they cover these carriers: AT&T U-Verse, Astound Broadband, BroadVoice/PhonePower, Cablevision/Optimum, Comcast, Sonic, SureWest, Time Warner, Ooma Premier, Verizon FiOS, Voipo, Voip.ms, Vonage, 1-Voip, and Wave Broadband. Don't see Charter, you'll have to check into this one.

With the upcoming elections, I don't need more surveys to try and figure out who I am voting for. I'm gonna be on my free vacation to the Bahamas that I got on my last call

On U-Verse, I can block EVERYONE and then ALLOW 20 numbers to call. All others get a recording. I've added a few people, but it almost startles me when the home phone rings anymore :D

I use Charter for phones at home. I can log in to my account and block any number. When I get a call from a solicitor or other unwanted caller, I just add the number to the list. I can do the same on my iphone. Before I started doing this, it was getting out of hand - 10 - 20 calls a day.

We had AT&T with Internet and U-Verse... But NO MORE...!
Due to an unscrupulous family having our phone number, (prior to it being assigned to us)... who were trying to stay one step ahead of debt collectors...we were receiving 300 calls a month...not a misprint...from debt collection agencies...from Florida time shares...from cruise agencies...from auto dealers where they had attempted multiple times to by a car under fake ID...from doctors offices seeking payment...from law enforcement officers ...from county prosecutors....and on and on.

AT&T would only block calls for a 30 day period. We didn't initially want to change our number so we bought a Panasonic phone system that could block 250 numbers. We used that up within three months. When we compiled a list of 260 numbers to block we decided we needed to change. Particularly since we were paying At&T over $96 / month for the "service" of receiving these unwanted calls, at all hours of the night.

I researched the Voice over Internet Providers and chose the #1 rated service for the past five years: The Ooma Premium. The unit was an initial cost of $89 at Costco on sale...normally a $129 unit....and $14.95 / month +$4.90 in taxes in recurring monthly fees. The NoMoRobo service is included in the Premium plan. For those who don't want the Premium plan the standard service is FREE. You just pay the $4.90 monthly taxes.

After several months...it has been GREAT. A true God send. We are now going days at a time without a single call. And saving a minimum of $75.00 / month over what we were wasting with At&T.

I would STRONGLY encourage those with high land line phone bills to consider Ooma Voip service.

Using the discount code JUMBO3 at this link:

https://www.groupon.com/deals/gg-oo...sid=0120emailOoma&wid=http://www.logicbuy.com

You can get a factory refurbished Ooma unit for only $53.99

After your initial purchase of the unit...your monthly recurring cost would be either $4.90 / month for basic service ...or $19.85 / month for premium service with taxes.

I wholeheartedly recommend them for spam free inexpensive phone service.

One great option of the Ooma Premium plan that I really like is that if you miss an incoming call on your home phone when traveling...Ooma will immediately send you a voice mail notification that allows you to hear the message from your email once you log onto your laptop or smart phone.

I need to also mention that we did change our phone number with the Ooma service...which is certainly partially responsible for the overnight dramatic elimination of all spam calls.
