This is now the official thread for kicking around ideas/thoughts concerning the car show. Sorry, I am NOT trying to take this over, or offend anyone, just wanting to get things channeled to a specific topic in one place.

So far, this is what I know about our Car Show:
1 - It's on 10/11

That's all I know, anyone care to add more.....

Drag race program

I attended the Runngun meeting last month. I had a conversation with a member that was willing to help run the Drag races...I offered to assist him. Let me know some more info and the gentlemans name so we can communicate. I am unable to attend the monthly meetings as I am Secretary/Treasurer of a Work Force Investment board for Southern Illinoise and we meet the 2nd Tuesday of every month.
Let me know what I can do to help as I plan on attending the Runngun on the 9th, 10th and 11th.

Tim.

Don't worry about offending anyone, you've already offended everyone on this forum more than once:D

In all seriousness, we are meeting with Gateway this Friday and will know more soon...so hold tight and we will post info as soon as we get it.

Also, if you need a ride to the Queen, you can ride back and forth to the track with me...I'm sure we can find a spot for you in the infield.

Run N' Gun

Mike,
I think I am that "gentleman" (Gee, no one's called me that before :) ) I sat quietly as everyone around the table tried to volunteer me.

Give me a call when you get a chance. Office is 314-469-2270, mobile is 314-409-2701

Gentleman

Paul, just met you but you seem to be a gentleman and there are damn few of us left!!!
I will try to call tomorrow after I get done with the honey do list...this retirement is not all it is cracked up to be....wife thinks I should be a "house husband' , what ever that is.
I would rather be building a new ride or putting some more expensive adds on to the Cobra.
Mike

Tom and I will miss this month's meeting due to our being at the ERA factory checking out our kit. We hope to get it delivered this month. Things are in pretty good shape for the R&G show but could use everyone's help in getting the word out about the show. Attached is the current status. If anyone has additional ideas about what we should do or how we should do it then please let me know.

Thanks,
Clyde

Just wondering on the trophies:

1) Participant judged - top/1st place only?
2) GCC trophy - Judged by all GCC present members?
3) Roll of 50/50 tickets - figure these will need to be purchased, I can from Office Depot or something, however, since Mark has the club funds.....
4) Chuck - thought I remembered Dean/Clois volunteering Gateway for the trophies(?)

R&G

I was not able to make the R&G meeting but I undstood:

1 Trophy winner as selected by participants (this becomes a popularity or club vote)
1 Trophy winner as selected by one to three GCC members (looking for volunteers)
I also thought that Gateway was going to provide trophnies
Roll of tickets - can obtain at a carnival supply store. I can purchase if needed.

Clyde

We have to purchase the trophies (3). Long story. Anyway - we can come up with the categories, like 1) Participant Choice, 2) Judge's Choice, 3) Club Choice.

Don't worry about the tickets - I'll get them when I get the rest of the supplies.

We'll go over all of the details at the meeting on Tuesday.

Mark

Point #2: One GCC judge to make it easier on all. If you want to partake, it can be a team effort.

Point #4: Thought so too, until Clois said Gateway said "nope". Its only $140, so no biggie.

Ok, we need to get this settled yet, right? Mark mentioned we have trophies, how many and how are cars to be judged?

Should we have a get together BEFORE Saturday to go over the car show, who will be where and why?

BTW - Mark has been doing one heck of a job getting things together for RNG. I went to Mark's house today and he had the booth 100% setup in his driveway for a 'dry' run setup. It looks great and I think the club members can be proud of the job that Mark has done for the club. It has been a lot of work, but, there is a lot of work YET to be done. Please make sure you are available, make time, to be there Saturday 10/11 for OUR car show. Invite your friends, I have and I believe he will come. It would be a nice showing for our club to have success, and a great way to promote this portion of hot rodding. I'm excited to get this going, can you tell? :D

Agreed!!

GREAT JOB MARK!!!:D:D

Let's "circle the wagons" on Thurs or Friday at RNG to discuss logistics. I have the trophies (3 of 'em), and Clyde has the judging criteria, entry ppwk, etc.....so we are set to go on our side. Just have to decide on the players and positions on Saturday.

Stupid Question, but is the car show open to all cars? Not just kit style cars? If so, I may bring the mustang down, just to have another entry.
