Racing Checklist

Thanks Mark. I thought we could keep a thread dedicated to this check list. That way people can add things to the list and always refer back before a track day. Keep in mind this is just a starting point.

Dean,
Could you explain the terms under the Driver:

Both Feet In

Both feet out

"both feet in" applies to the brake and clutch. If you leave the track in a spin, you run the risk of going backward. If the clutch is not pushed in, disengaging the drivetrain, it is possible to get your engine running backward - which I've been lead to believe is a bad thing.

I will help. He is referring to what to do with the brake and clutch. When you spin both brake and clutch are down until you stop. You will do ENORMOUS damage if you spin out and allow the car to roll backwards while trying to stop.

Dean asked me to post this handy checklist.

Mark / Dean:

You might want to remove "timing equipment" from the list if you hope to even have a chance at getting your insurance company to cover any damages. No reason to leave any incriminating evidence lying around.

I'd add - lead hammer, safety wire, meatballs or blue tape to mark a # on your doors, trunk empty and compressor.

Does the tire pressure recommendation apply to both 5" and 17"s?

Steve

Good idea's Steve. The tire pressure is for 17 inch wheels with street tires. I ran about 22 psi in my Hoosier A6's. The 15 inch are usually mid 20's. (cold temps) Your tire temps will help identify an improper tire pressure. I always mark the tires with a tire paint stick starting at the tread line down the sidewall about 1 inch so I can see how much of the tread I am using.

I'd like to order a set, but what if you get to the track and someone else has that number too? What's the proper thing to do? Still mark the meatball with blue tape?
