Monday?! That Danny, such a slacker ;) :D Thanks Steve. Any suggestions for driving this track?

Don't blame Danny. He could have gotten it done, but that wouldn't have solved the windshield problem.

RE: Putnam - I find turns 7 and 8 to be the hardest. 7 is practically a 90 degree right turn. 8 is a left turn into an elevation change and off-camber. This is the only place I've left the track.

I'm not an expert by any stretch - but I suggest going slower into turn 1 off the main straight so that you can set up for 2, 3 and 4. Be smooth on the throttle, don't lift. Keep an eye on the corner workers and flags. If other drivers are bunching up behind you wave them by. It's a lot more fun to not have to worry about who's on your ass.

Mark, I, Mike and Carol arrived safe and sound and are checked in. Quite a site in the parking lot. I think I can take the Porsche GT3's here ;)

Great day today. Only two incidents, a Mustang went off the track and went plowing between turns 5 and 6, and I mowed the grass in to turn 6. Just kept the wheel straight, drove right in to the grass, kept going, and back in to the pits. The right front wheel locked up on me. Had a blast riding with an instructor, and then put my slicks on the final session. Wow! what a difference! Will run them tomorrow all day. I was going to upload a video from my sunglasses, but it was going to take too long. Mike did well, and hung in there, just couldn't keep up with the BBF on the straights. We aren't going to talk about the rest of the track ;) Lot of neat cars, Mark has been a huge help and been quite the shutterbug today. I'm sure he will get some pics uploaded soon. Ya'll should take a 3 1/2 ride East and join us tomorrow :D

Well keep that attitude. I'm planning on the September at Putnam, so put it on your calendar. Glad you're having a good time. Wish I was there. Tell Mark and Mike hello from the gang.

A few pics from yesterday. You will have to wait until we get back to see the rest as it takes entirely too long to upload these.

Thanks Tim! Since there was no report of incident, I assume that all went well and you had a great time while learning your car and your limits on race tires. did you keep lap times to track your progress over the 2 days? Looking forward to the video.

Carol and I had a great time, good friends, fantastic weather, and fast cars. What else is there?:D Thanks goes to Tim and Mark for helping out a newbe. Tim even let me think I was offering some competition, at least in the turns. Everyone involved went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. My biggest surprise is how physically demanding the track was and driving a car with no power brakes or steering. I know next time I'm getting a racing seat. With the standard cobra seats I was wore out just hanging on to the car in the turns. I can't imagine what it would be like with racing tires. With this being my first experience, I'm glad it was at Putnam. Great track and thanks to Mark Peiffer for such an orderly, well organized, and safe event.

Tom, I'm going through the video now and there is a timer in the video. Best time that I've seen so far on street tires, 1.39. On slicks, 1.28. Have to edit it to make it smaller files to get them posted.

Had an absolute GREAT TIME!!!! We've got to get more guys up there next year. This is too Frickin' FUN!
We had 3 beautiful days and I had a great time with Tim and learned a lot about racing (when the time comes). Tim offered to let me drive his car on the track, but not being familiar with the track or his car (or actual racing), I declined, BUT did get to take 2 sessions with one of the Instructors (Dave Lowum) GREAT GUY! Tim & I talked to him for over 2 hours Friday night. A wealth of information and all around good guy. Riding with him was definitely an "E Ticket" ride!
Tim & Mike's cars ran and sounded great out there, especially down the almost half mile(?) straight. It was hard to see most of the turns from the spectator / fence area.

I'll get pictures and video loaded up tonite (I was exhausted when we got home last nite, getting up @ 5am Sat & Sun makes for long days (and Tim SNORES! (just kidding :D, only a little).
It was a very well organized event and I think everyone enjoyed it.
Very nice track and facilities.
good overnite accomodations, but dining was a little limited, unless you liked fast food or didn't mind driving 15 - 30 miles. (we did find a pretty good SteakHouse (Old Toppers(? I'll check) and good Ice Cream place. Ice Castles.
It would be a lot of fun to go there as a club, even if you don't race. Thanks Again Tim! I thoroughly enjoyed your company.

My off track experience

The bar at the top of the video is a sticker on my helmet visor. Sorry about the audio quality

My fastest lap on street tires on Saturday 4/10

See what time you come up with.

Mark P - remember the session when I came in early because I thought something came off the car? Well, I found it - the bottom bolt securing my alternator was broken off. I guess with the hard braking in to the turn, it vibrated out, fell down and got kicked out by the tires. Now, I have a broken bolt stuck in the block, but I think I can get it with a pair of vise grips. I noticed on that last session that the altenator wasn't charging like it should. More videos coming later. :D
