Steve, I'm sure you can use your 'pull' to get Mike registered, can't you?

Tim:

I tried. Here's Mark's reponse --

As much as I'd love to let another driver in, Putnam Park is sold out. Have the "foot dragger" drop me an e-mail with his name, phone number, e-mail address and total number of track days he's attended and we'll get him on the reserve list. Mark Pfeffer feffman@yahoo.com

Mike - email him and bring your car to the track anyway. The odds are you'll get on.

Steve

Thanks Steve, I talked to Mark first thing this morning and have already sent my email. He advised me that I was first on the Novice standby list. Apparently it closed yesterday. Nice guy and I'm sure he'll do what he can. Either way I understand, my fault for dragging my feet while working out my schedule. I appreciate your help. I registered for the Muncie Drag event this morning after seeing how fast these events fillup.

Good news, Mark called today and he had a cancellation. I'm in and looking farward to my first track day. Now if I can just bring it home in one large piece.:D

What is the official GCC hotel? The Holiday Inn is probably nicer than the Super 8 or what ever the MVP hotel is. Where is everyone staying?

Dean:

I can't speak for everyone, but I'm staying at the Holiday Inn Express. The official hotel is the Super 8.

Steve

I think Holiday Inn Express (post #42). I was going to make my reservations today.
Holiday Inn Express
Cloverdale (Greencastle)
1017 North Main St.
Cloverdale, IN 46120

Hey Steve, is that Tech Inspection form on the MVP website? You mentioned earlier they want that completed prior to the event. So, what is the tech inspection done at the hotel for?

Tim:

A link to the form can be found in the middle of this page. http://www.mvptracktime.com/id70.html

They eyeball the car and check your helmet. They're not set up to put the car on a lift to check everything. The tech form, and doing it ahead of time, is in your best interest. You don't want to wait until you get to the track to find out you have a problem.

Steve

Waited too long to make reservations at HIE, so I'll be staying here:

Super 8 Cloverdale
1020 N Main St
I-70 Exit 41
Cloverdale, IN 46120 US

Checking in 4/9, checkout 4/11. Going to get my car looked over in the next week or so by someone (May pay Bethalto a visit)

Tim re-peaked my interest today at the Dyno Day, so I checked with THE BOSS when I got home and she said "yes, you can go play / race cars with my friends"!

I'm in! just need to work out the arrangements with Tim, looks like I'll be pitting for Team Venom! COOL! :D

Thanks Tim!

Pit crew?! I'm thinking you can drive some.....shhhhh, don't tell anyone :D

My schedule for those going:

Thursday - pickup trailer and pack up :D

Friday - leave my house at noon, arrive at Super 8 around 4pm, get parking lot tech inspection done. Steve/Mike - will call you when Mark and I roll in to town. Steve, I'm guessing you'll be having dinner with your brother? Mike, anyone coming with you?

Steve, Sunday, how late do you run and do you come back on Sunday or Monday?

Dean, you still going?

Tim:

I plan on leaving first thing Friday morning. I'm hoping to arrive by 1:00 pm eastern. Will do some office work for a couple hours and then get signed off by tech.

I'll be hanging with the group for dinner, etc for the weekend. You'll get a chance to break bread with some of those stuck up SPF guys. :)

Steve

Steve, Sunday, how late do you run and do you come back on Sunday or Monday?

Tim:

I forgot to answer your question. I'll leave on Sunday. Somewhere around noon, depending on how the run groups are scheduled. I like to be home by 5:00. At least we gain an hour going home.

Steve

Steve, is there a reason to get there early? No time change in Indiana, but can't remember if they are currently an hour behind or not.

Mark - Ok, then I says DRIVE! :D

Steve, what about lunch options? Does everyone leave the track, don't eat or what? I've got a small grill I could bring. Planned to bring a cooler with water and soda (beer for end of day). Anything else you suggest to bring? Bringing my canopy (need a way to weight it down) too.

Steve, what about lunch options?....

Tim:

They have a small food stand inside the grounds where you can get a hamburger, chips and soda. While not great, its not bad and easier than cooking for yourself.

Coffee is available in the control tower.

Bring a chair. The canopy is great. If its cold or windy we'll generally sit inside someone's trailer.

Camera if you want to take pictures. There is always a professional photographer there to sell you pictures of you out on the track.

As a rule everyone leaves their cars in the trailers overnight at the track Saturday night.
