I have come up with an idea that I am currently getting a patent on. I am looking for a company that work with plastic and can manufacture the product. Does anyone know of a company in town that can mold plastic?

plastic

There is a company in Godfrey IL. Cope plastic 618-466-0221 can do just about anything with plastic.

I don't know, just because I don't know those terms. If it helps, I need a company that has the ability to make a milk crate. What kind of molding would that be?

More than likely - injection. I have a friend making some inquiries.

If you think the volume will be high enough to warrant offshore (China) manufacturing, I can put you in touch with some people that can help. Call or email me.

Thanks, Tom. I have also requested info from Speciality. Do any of you have a contact in each of these companies? I would like to get the process started, but frankly I am leary telling a stranger about the idea until I get the patent back.

I furnished some equipment years ago for Specialty but don't have contacts there any more. You could have them sign a standard confidentiality agreement if you want to get into more specifics with them on what it would take to produce your product. I would guess that they are hungry like everyone else and would be happy to talk with you. Good Luck

Perfect. I have a meeting with Brian Simpson at Speciality on Monday. I asked him about signing. He just laughed and said that is the third request today and they do it all the time. He said they have no interest in stealing an idea they just want to make the product.

Had a good, productive meeting with the sales manager from Speciality. He told me I also need to look into extrusion molding. He thought extrusion molding would keep the tooling costs down.

Hmmmm, is it a crate to hold all my stuff in the trunk? Good luck, and keep us posted :D

You can't extrude a crate. I'm looking forward to seeing this revolutionary shape and finding out what it's use is.

Don't get your hopes up. It is so simple it's silly. I would tell you, but you would have to sign a non-disclosure agreement per my legal representative (Tom K.) or wait for the commercial from Mark. Really though, I may be asking for help on working out the details as I get close if any of you are willing to provide input(for the nominal fee of a burger).
