Oil Cooler Kit

I'm hoping that someone can steer me in the right direction for an oil cooler kit for my 351w.
The oil temp runs around 220-230F, and I'm concerned that on a long trip this may cause problems.

Any help would be appreciated.
 
I have a 5.0 and mine almost always runs 220* on the highway. I asked Omer and he was comfortable with that temp. Oil will run hotter than coolant as it is pulling heat off the bottoms of the pistons. All current oils will handle up to 300*, but I wouldnt be happy with that temp for anything but short duration's.
 
Also, where is your oil temp taken from? Oil pan? Manifold? This weekend when I'm on the track, I'll see 250F with my synthetic oil. Not had an issue, knock on wood, yet. :rolleyes:
 
That oil temp range is excellent. Once the oil goes above 212 it boils off all the moisture inside of your engine - excellent. Once the oil goes above about 320 - it begins to melt your bearings. I think you are just fine.

Also, without adding a cooler - there are cheaper ways to fix the problem (if necessary). You could simply change the grade of oil you are using, you could change your thermostat - 2 examples.

But, like I said - I think you are just fine.
