North Korea

They are, will they is the question. We're told that we have the capability to shoot something down before it get's here, maybe, but what about the fallout? Wish we were more cozy with Japan, China, and others to help back us up. I wish this would get taken care of once and for all though. I can think of two instances where we did end it once and for all, wouldn't suggest it, but.....

OK - so here's a question -

If you were POTUS,
and NK launched a nuclear missile at Hawaii, Alaska, Japan, South Korea, etc,

And whether we shot it down or not -

What would YOU do in return?

I'm thinking 4 of what I have will seperate the entire country and sink it in the ocean - that's once and for all. Then I would think, what makes me any better than them? And the reasons would then come flowing in. The other problem with us retaliating is China, Japan and S. Korea. They would be most impacted by Nuclear fallout, and may have something to say about us retaliating with nuclear weapons.

Not too worried about them actually hitting a target though. 3 tests have all failed to hit their target, not saying we should let our guard down, but.....

You?

This is why I am glad I am not King for a day! Personally, I would launch everything at once as PV said. But, we all know the consequences of that. We have the strongest military in the world, just because we can doesn't mean we should, but in return foes have to be willing to back up their threat. IF the test is unprovoked(none of us truly know world politics) I say launch in return. You?

Drop a couple of MOAB's, non-Nuclear, laser guided ordnance on their leaders head or some other equivalent type of munition. Sit back and wait for them to dig out and do it again on exactly the same spot to prove we can do it anytime. Kind of like Michael Jordan shooting FTs with his eyes closed. Follow it up with a hot message to their new current leader, "We can do this all day from long range. Are you stupid or do you really want to do this? Hugs and Kisses from the US of A. Strong Message to follow!"

The U.S. (us) is in a difficult position lots of places around the globe. In a straight-up fight we could win against any of them, but they are playing by rules that they make up as they go along. Al Qaida and the Taliban don't have a country. Iran and North Korea can pretty much do anything they want and know that we are powerless to stop them.

Sure, North Korea's nuclear threat may not be much now, but if they keep going, in a couple of years they will be a real threat. And the leader thinks he is a god! How do you fight crazy?

Grandpa always told me "you can't beat those that don't know" It's kind of like hitting a moving target. Where's George S. Patton when you need him :D

I'd put in a vote for someone like Carlos Hathcock as well. Accomplish the same goal without destroying a nation.

How do you fight crazy? Nuclear threat? Patton?

Patton (as I) would remind the leader of North Korea in a very demonstrative way that there is nothing on this planet crazier than an American backed into a corner. Let me say that again - there is nothing crazier than an American backed into a corner. You're gonna launch a missile on us? Really? The world needs to remember who the REAL Nuclear threat is - the USA. I think they have forgotten that. We need to remind them of that. These two bit pimps have got a bit out of hand these last few years. I would pump a couple of ICBMs into NK, and then surface a couple of subs and a battle group in the Straits of Hormouz (sp) just in case those goofballs get uppity. WW3 - nope - just another day of remembrance - this time on their soil and not ours.

Shit - we need another war - it's about time - it will pull us out of this recession.

If they think we're the devil - then let's send them to hell !

Alrighty then....someone stressing over the car today :D So, what's the story with this ship that we are tracking that is possibly carrying nuclear weapons?

Wow, Mark, I guess that hippy-look isn't all about peace and love.....
:D
I read a book one time about WW II. In it, a wise sargeant talked about the hundreds of thousands of good people that were dying in the war. He then speculated that only about 150 really NEEDED to die to end the whole conflict. It is just hard to find the right 150 and kill them!

Can't Superman do something about all of this?

Diplomacy works GREAT....when properly applied....

Karl - right again - get the "right" 150 people. Really in this case - just one will suffice. The NK leader is off his rocker for sure.
