Have not been happy with the Mickey Thompson tires on my car, and, getting close to needing a new set. Been looking and finding that the 275/40/17 is more difficult to find in a performance tire, a good one, than I thought. Car and Driver raned the Michelin Pilot Super Sport as #1, but, that is not in the price range....not paying $350/tire. #2 is the Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position...which, if you can find them, are about $150/tire....I really liked my last set of R760 Potenza's. The Nitton 555 G2 ranks mid pack out of 10 tires, but, seem to be the current tire of choice on the Factory Five Forum.

So, besides the Mickey Thompson, what are you running and how hard have you pushed the tire to know how sticky it is? Thoughts?

I'm running the Nitto 555 and really like them. They have the new NT 555 G2 Which is supposed to be better. I've run them pretty hard around here and they held up well last year at the autocross. I only had that one drift the whole time. I think Rick is running them as well.

Yes I have nitty 555 and have had good luck with them, but if I buy new it would be nitty nt05.

Like you Rick I was thinking about going to the NT05 on the rears, but staying with the 555 in the fronts.

Looking at the comparisons on the Nitto site, here are the following Stats

Dry Traction Wet Traction Comfort Quiet
555 3.5 3.5 3 3
05 5 3 2.5 2.5
555 G2 4.5 4.5 3 3

It looks to me the best all around tire, at least in the Nitto brand would be the new NT555 G2 Discount tire has the 285/ 40ZR17 for 168 each which will fit our the MkII.
