dead batteries............need to find........dimensions........5" deep x 9-3/4 in length x 6-1/4" tall

Finding all 3 measurements on the same battery is tough. Found a 9 3/4" L x 5" W x 7 1/4" T....check O'Reilly's web site or call them and see if they can find it for you.

dead batteries

supposedly interstate has a top post...series 26 but have to go by firestone to compare............thanks to you and Paul for answering

Nope

Kevin,
26 Series won't work. Dimensions for that size are 7 x 8-1/4 x 8. You're Firestone guy might be helpful but he isn't close on change-over.

I checked the BCI Battery specs (Standards that battery Mfg's conform to) and there isn't a 5" wide Lead-Acid battery. :(

Still going with the PC-950 by Odyssey or the Gill G-35. Minor mods to make the 950 work but they are pricey. Summit has them at $300 each.

What are the battery box restrictions? Are you trying to stay with original style? Can the battery box be modified to accept a larger battery? May look at UTV/ATV/Motorcycle batteries for that size.

Links

Couple links on using the Odyssey and Gil Batteries. Seems the original battery was the G-35 size, came from light aircraft.

Unfortunately, the guys haven't kept up their picture links so some of the pictures are missing. Maybe they can respond to an email and supply them

What battery is in the car now?
Does it have a model / part number that we could reverse engineer? (lookup what cars that battery fits, then lookup what other batteries fit that car??)

Original

Original Comp and S/C battery was an aircraft battery made by Rebat. They are no longer in business. Replacement is either a Gill G-35 or Concorde RG-35A. Either are available from Aircraft Spruce in Atlanta.

Don't throw the old ones away. They have value to the restorers who may have them rebuilt or "mod'd". Offer them on Club Cobra to the highest bidder. I suspect a battery mfg could cut the case open and rebuild, for those who insist on having "originality"

They were not original to CSX3307, that is a street car and came with a standard 12V battery in the engine compartment, in front of the passenger footbox and below the headers.

When this car was restored/refreshed by whomever, they added the Rebat batteries behind the seat like the original Comp and S/C cars CSX3001 thru CSX3055. It was the craze back in the 90's and early 2000's to "S/C-ize" the cars; add the pieces to make them into an S/C vehicle rather than the street vehicle. We since have learned to leave them alone.

Yes but the G35 is over $200, and its still old school lead-acid, the PC-950 is a sealed AGM.
