Looks like I have a new project. This is a 1959 Lloyd made in Germany til they went out of business in 1961. My daughter wants it restored and converted to electric. 6A33D839-A71A-481F-BCBC-DE40DA9C21D9.jpg. It was a 25 hp twin cylinder engine with a 3 speed on the tree.

This guy also had a 427 sitting on the floor that he built over ten years ago for a race car he never finished. But he wanted
4,500 for it. 2674439F-23E2-41AD-8012-D1DBAD61A5ED.jpg. If any of you are interested, let me know.

You could mount the 427 in the Lloyd to drive the generator for the electric motors. Can you say 'hybrid'

Just Saying

Look forward to seeing it! You are quite the Dad...son gets the F5 Cobra and daughter gets a complete restoration on a 1959 Lloyd!! :)

Have you seen the series on the Motor Trend channel, Vintage Voltage? I've been DVRing and watching it.
I think an electric converted car is an interesting concept. Are you thinking of starting with an electric kit or retrofitting an existing wrecked electric?
Good luck! We want to see it, keep us posted on Llyod's progress.

Go on CLASSIC TRADER and buy one 1957/couple are offered...German Marks 5,000 and 3,500... ship it home...

I’m hoping to buy a conversion kit so the batteries, control system, and regenerative brake system are all part of the package. There is one from EV West for VW beetles that might be a fit. Just starting the search. But first, I’ll get it running and start removing the interior. All the glass is good and the body sheet metal but I have some metal to replace in the rockers and floorboards.

I was trying to remember the company that did a VW beetle a few years ago. EV West was the one I was trying to think of.
At the time, I thought it was close to $20k, but looks like it's come down to a reasonable price-point to make it economical.
