March car of the month is owned by Mike Woley. His car is an L.A.E. (now B&B) kit built in California in 1995. The color is British racing Green with Wimbledon White stripes. Mike is the third owner having bought it with less than 3000 miles. The original owner had the car built by L.A.E. but never had the car titled and drove it within his gated community from home to the golf course. The 2nd owner took a little more interest in the car and modified it by adding QA-1 Shocks all around, a new rear locker, rebuilt brake system and fuel system. This was a $3 to $4k upgrade done right before Mike bought it in 2006. When Mike bought it, the car had a mild 351W in it which was pulled winter of 2008 for a freshly built 351W bored .030 over, M400 rods, 10.5:1 Kieth Black pistons, World Sr heads with 2.02 intake ports that were ported/polished to match a new Weiand intake. All topped off with a Holley 4150-4177 series 650 double pumper carb and custom aluminum fabricated valve covers. The engine is fired from a MSD distributor & electronics. March under drive pulleys add needed power to the 351 which will be on the dyno soon to determine how much power this beast produces. The power is transferred to the rear wheels via a T-5 transmission with a .068 overdrive to a Ford 9" rear carrying a 3.50 locker. Estimated rwhp is 400. Speaking of tires, Mike is running 245/45 x 15's on the front and 295/50 x 15 on the rear.

Mike says, "I pulled the old 351W which was pretty mild and put the above motor in
over the winter of 2008.. It had 70 miles on the new motor when I took off on the Hot Rod Power Tour June of 2008...3200 miles later, no problems except a small oil leak that was easily fixed. What a shake down cruise that was!!
This past winter my wife and I (read as mostly wife) re-carpeted it."

Great looking car Mike, hope to see it on some cruises this summer!

The original engine was pulle because I didn't like the sound...men understand this, my wife said get new side pipes.
I was looking for that throaty sound .
The first nite of the Power Tour in Little Rock I went to a mall to pick up whatever it was I forgot to pack for the trip. It was about 10:00pm. When I fired the snake up, four car alarms went off. That was exactly the sound I built in the new motor. Mission accomplished.Called the wife and let her know the $$$ was not wasted as I was happy.
Oh, the price of happiness.
Will be going on the '09 Power tour. Leaves Madison, Wi on 6-7 and ends in Bristol, Tn 6-13.
Total actual miles of the tour will be over 1100 miles and that does not include getting to Madison or the return trip from Bristol. I estimate it will be 3500 miles total.
