Not sure the tinted headlights is a safe thing to do...but it looks cool! Video is still buffering, but I'm assuming she liked it :D

Wow what a gift. I think I got coal....1/2 lump. That exhaust sounds great!

BTW: Youtube accounts are free and work 10 times better for video. It took over 10 mins for this thing to buffer. It was worth it though.

Yep. After driving it around tonight, I removed the tinted headlights. Still looks hella nasty. She's so excited, and really wants to go to a car show - with her own car now.

Now, trying to talk Lisa and Madison into joining us on SuperCruise.

That V6 with the exhaust and tune makes 340hp + 6 speed auto trans - kinda impressive and more than the previous (05-10) GT V8s. Just Sayin - car guy talk - very impressed with the 4.0 V6.

sorry about the buffering. I accidentally loaded 1920x1080 full rez HD clip. I need to get somebody that knows about video - I guess.

Here you go... original clip now on YouTube.

What an awesome day.

Good job Mark, she looks very excited about the whole deal. Don't know about car shows but that car would be awsome on the autox tracks might help her in driving the car on the street, that is if you don't mind her showing up your car! !

Well said Rick! There is also a teen survival driving course we put on that is really great for learning the limits of the car and driver in dry and wet. It could save her life. You just missed one locally but there are more coming up in the area.

A recommendation that should not be ignored or underestimated....!

340 hp and a very inexperienced new driver...is a formula for tragedy.

When I was 13.... I lost my closest cousin Dennis Brumbach... who was killed when riding as a passenger in his 16 YO neighbor's new car....three weeks after getting his license.

A survival driving course should be #1 on the priority list.

Although I am happy for Madison...I held off from posting earlier because I keep thinking about Dennis.

Sorry to be a downer...but I wouldn't call myself your friend without expressing my concern of the risk here.

Wow , not to be negative but a 16 year old girl and 340 hp,what are you thinking!!

What can I say...she (and I) prefer American cars. She wanted something sporty, but we wanted something that had decent gas mileage. We just didn't want to get her an Accord, Civic, Mazda3, Mini Cooper, or anything similar. The V6 Mustang fit the bill. It's less expensive than a V6 Camaro, and holds it's resale value better than most. This particular car is the Premium version of the model line-up, but I got it at a base model price. This particular car is still under a bunch of factory warranty - only 13,800 miles from new. The timing was right. The car just came in on a trade-in at Bommarito Audi the day before I saw it on-line. I've been looking for that exact car for a few months, and couldn't pass it up.

I had Omer put a tune in it for more HP (which we need to adjust with a second visit), but with the handheld tuner we can store his tune and the stock tune (305hp) which we are running now. That hand-held tuner is really neat. Lots of options for safety (speed limiters) and mileage adjustments, and with Omer's help - options for for various performance set-ups, and gasoline set-ups. Eventually, we'll have various tunes for AutoX and maybe some Road Course stuff.

Yea - I said it. She wants to do the track stuff. One little step at a time and she'll get there. I'm already planning on a handling package, and maybe some power adders down the road. I skipped the whole Karting thing with her. Maybe that was a mistake. But, maybe this makes up for that.

Another neat thing is that there are some many tested and available add-on options or the Mustang. That's neat.

She's a good kid, gets decent grades, and a real car nut. My hope is that this sparks something in her. Taking care of a car, making sure it doesn't get dinged in a parking lot, learning to wax, wash, detail, show some pride, and become a better driver - these are important starting points. So far she's off to a good start. She'll learn about plenty of technical stuff too. She's into that.

One of these days she'll probably be showing us the proper line around a track. Who knows.

Good thinking DAD. I am surprised how well the new Mustang does on Autox. Mark you put a handling package am we will not be able to keep up with her. Nice car.

Rick:)

Mark, did you put the hood/roof/trunk stripes on or just the side stripes? Hood and side scoops?

Started to call you today to see if you and Madison wanted to go on a cruise...figured she was doing plenty on her own.

I did all of the stripes and scoops.
I'll have to re-do the big stripes again.
I know what I'm doing now.
Let's just say there are a few boogers, but I'll do them right again.

Today - Class for Madison -Wash and Detail 101.
She passed with flying colors.

Then we went on a little round-the-block cruise.
That was fun.
She kept up just fine, even went around me at one point.

That V6 is quick.
Hoping she can get to the meeting Tuesday.

Ok, to calm my nerves....how much has she been driving before she got the car?

She's had her permit for 5 months.

She took her driving test on Thursday - and failed.

I took her out Thursday night and gave her a few more lessons and taught her how to parallel park.

She passed her test on Friday with a 74%.

Nerves any better now ?

LOL.

We still have a lot to learn. Accident avoidance, antilock braking, steering while in a slide, etc, etiquette, and what to do when you get into an accident on the road. She's had some highway time too.

She really needs some seat time - but it will come.
She a good learner, and very attentive.
I just have to stop screaming and cussing so much - it really scares her.

Nerves any better now ??

ROFLMAO
